As I've said all along: If we could vote to deport all minorities out of the state, the people "would speak" on that just as they have on gay marrige.

but waving the american flag and singing about "Land of the Free" ???

Is this a religious issue, or a economic one.

Everyone seems to ignore that and make that a grey issue. Or they cross lines in their arguments.

Actually, I don't think that it would yield the same results.

Yeah, it wouldn't be nearly as close. "Get rid of anyone who's not white" would pass by a far larger margin.

Fvcked up, isn't it?

we should just have another civil war. We have the "unions" and the "marriages" fighting against each other.

Did anybody notice how closely the states that voted Republican/Democratic resembled the states that joined the Confederacy/Union during the civil war?

as if it was just georgia that passed this. people in many states were asked, and they responded. you can mock religion or southern states or whatever else, but apparently a majority of folks outside of california don't want to taint the union of a man and woman.

and i voted to amend the ga constitution, not that it really changes anything.

My only solace is that you're probably too stupid and socially stunted to ever actually attract a mate and have kids.

We should hope so

I bet you it would. People blame the minorities for all the crime, etc here, so they'd be more than happy to toss them if it came to a vote.

My point is that some things simply should not be put to a vote by the people. Not a single person I've seen interviewed or have spoken to can tell me why they voted this way other than the standard regurgitation of "sanctity of marriage".

It is hard to believe that in America, we can vote to add discrimination to our state Constitutions.

Everytime I hear anything about "measure 36"(here in oregon), and "ammend the constitution", it makes me fscking sick.

What a crock of sh!t. Seperation of Church and State my ass.

"marriage is a religous term"

Actually it is considered a legal contract, you can be married by 100 different priests, ministers etc but till the certificate is filed with the state, you aren't considered legally married.

I intend to be married by a JP ie:civil,non-religous marriage.I fail to see how allowing the same sex couple in line with us to apply for a license would have any impact at all on myself or my soon to be husband.

How anybody can not understand that same sex couples wishing to marry just want the same civil
rights and obligations that the state would grant hetersexual couples is beyond me.

Thankfully I live in MA, state with intelligent, thinking people, all couples here enjoy the right to a civil marriage !

Hey, I'm with all of you.

I'm not Gay.
I don't plan on being Gay.
So why should I give a crap if they get married or not?

I'm a republican, the way I see it is that your tax bracket takes a jump when you get married. Gay people getting married means more people getting married, which equals more marriage taxes, which could possibly lessen the blow on other taxes. As long as it doesn't impede on my wallet or my way of life. Go ahead, do what you like.

The only downside i might see to gay marriage is that you're just asking for more foreign troubles. That's just like definative western culture right there. Maybe religion doesn't play a large roll in OUR society today, but there are cultures elsewhere where religion is pretty close to the defined government. If homosexuality approval is accepted at the government level, and that spreads world wide... you know who it's going to come back to.

*waves hand*

Us.

Western Civilization isn't a widely accepted topic when you start throwing religion into it... it's enough to start wars... and has.

I voted FOR.

Here's why:
Marriage is a RELIGIOUS term. While I'm not religious, I do read it as the union of a man and woman before god.

What I think should be allowed are Civil Unions.. that way gays can be together and have a wedding or whatnot, but not be infringing upon religious zealots who are upset over the whole matter.

However, I don't think gays would be okay with this. What do you think? Would gays be okay with civil unions but not marriage?

but you are FOR hetero marriages?? i can't understand the hypocrisy of such lunacy.

you are against gay marriages because it is a RELIGIOUS term, but you are for hetero marriages why??

double standards anyone?
