i've read that if you videotape customer service, they go out of their way to be extra nice. i will wear a headcam everywhere soon. this is promise.

I always gives tips based on the experience with the waiter/driver, not a percentage of the purchase.

The guy that took 15 minutes to deliver my Pizza the other day from 6 miles away got a nice $7.50 tip on a $12 order.

If this is a place you say you visit often, i would not advise to short them on the tip.

When your job is customer service and your "tip" depends on how good you do your basic job, you shouldn't have to ask for water. They're the ones that need to make sure it's filled. They're supposed to earn their extra pay. If they don't earn it then they don't get it just like any other job. I don't get why people ask how much they need to tip. Tip whatever you want.

I mean, take yesterday for example. We were out at the Olive Garden for dinner, which was lovely. And uh, I happen to look over at a certain point during the meal and see a waitress taking an order, and I found myself wondering what color her underpants might be. Her panties. Uh, odds are they are probably basic white, cotton, underpants. But I sort of think well maybe they're silk panties, maybe it's a thong. Maybe it's something really cool that I don't even know about. You know, and uh, and I started feeling... what?

If I wait for water too long I simply get up, go over to the wait station, and fill it myself. One of the waitstaff or manager almost always sees you so it is rather effective. Sometimes I just take the pitcher back to my table.

Waiter system is flawed. Any waiter should be able to serve any table. I'm not one for chinese-anything, but they got it right. INSTANT service.

Most of the time, the waitstaff at a restaurant will typically ask (almost incessantly ) if I want another drink. I assume it's pretty much one of those rules that they're supposed to follow (i.e. "drink low = ask if they want more").

You know what you're going to get at a chain, and it tastes good for the most part. What's not to like? Crowds perhaps. High prices? No shot.

I'm sick and tired of trying this and that place out (for the same prices) only to find out it's just as bland as we make it at home. Even our favorite "hole in the wall" place is a chain... http://vincentsclambar.com/ (another in Manhattan). 2nd favorite - Cheesecake Factory - wait times over 30 minutes even on weeknights when there are a ton of other places to eat.

I do. I drink a lot of water in a day and at dinner it is no different. Restaurant glasses are usually small and I like a lot of ice so I probably drink at least 5 or six glasses at a meal.

We eat at the same place on Fridays for lunch. I have all the waitstaff trained. They bring me two glasses of water. That way I never run out before they make it back with the pitcher.

Depends who I am with. When I eat out with my boss I will go through 5 drinks usually. (coke) and he orders a bottle of wine. (4 and a bit glasses) now we usually eat over a long period of time appetizer, main course, dessert over 2-3 hours.
