I have 2 kingston value RAM sticks that i plug into my Kv8 Max3 board, and there are 3 dimm slots , and i CANNOT plug them in to the 1 & 2 slots, i HAVE to plug them into 1 & 3 slots, if one stick is in the 2 slot i get BSD, and my computer reboots over and over...?

So what do you think? crap motherboard or should i try to track down a warranty if this is even possible. Or perhaps any other solutions... I'm just dealing with it now.

sounds like a bad motherboard to me.

and with your other mobo-related complaints, it may be a good idea to RMA that motherboard.

Alrighty here is some of the information you asked for, also some highly technical stuff that i can't really puzzle out, except for the referenced memory thing that seems to always pop up.

Yeah it's kingston 400 value ram.

i have 2 sticks of 512, for some reason i didn't get 1gb stick. Think i heard 2 sticks of 512 was faster or something.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "settings" but they're just stock...i pretty much run all of my stuff at stock speeds.

Oh and here is the exact crash message for when i'm playing World of Warcraft, i've begun to crash on other programs as well but i'm still puzzled as to what is going on. Bad RAM? Bad MOBO? Bad Video Card..? Bad HDD lol..so many options.. PLease help!!

how does running one stick at a time do? maybe its just one stick thats causing the problem. Theres a program called memtest 86 that you can put on a bootable cd or floppy that will heavily test your ram. try memtest.org for the program.

I'd put one stick in, run that program on it for a cycle or two and see if there are any errors. Then switch out the stick and test the other. See what you find. Report back to us.

you are running single channel memory right?

Facts about this Chipset
The VIA K8T800 chipset with Hyper8 technology is powering next generation 64-bit compatible platforms based on the Athlon?64 processor based performance PC platforms. Socket 939 platforms support Dual Channel memory configurations while the Socket 745 supports Single Channel.

memory configs that are supposed to work

p.s.
Does this only happen with the one game? have you checked for game patches?

Hmm what is this Single channel memory you speak of lol. Honestly I'm not sure what the difference is between the two, but i'm pretty sure my RAM is 400mhz so i'm going to just try taking out that one stick of RAM...
