I've always had it redirected to outlook and I've never received spam.

I must be doing something wrong...I never get that junk....nor targeted ads. (Adblocker Plus works well for me)

Maybe they just know I'm too broke to buy their garbage anyway...

I think OP is referring to Gmail-SPONSORED spams coming to your inbox as legit emails:

There's an option to opt-out, which I did. But Gmail knows your casual base (90%+) won't know to click 4 times in the settings.

I did, too. One gmail addy is for family only, I have never received spam on that account.

The other two are used for websites, online purchases, and contest entries, and they get spammed relentlessly. However, Google does a good job of directing the crap to the spam folder, never to my inbox.
