95 degrees in NYC today. I'm in a glass office tower on the waterfront with 3 sides fully exposed to the sun and the AC is off

days like this make me pissed off that they took away our telecommuting.

I can totally sympathise. We're having the same heat in Chicago today and I'm in the office. By some miracle for which i praise FSM, they left the AC on today. I'm literally ecstatic about that.

Stay cool bro. It's totally legitimate to work in your boxers in that kind of heat, FYI.

Oh, stop your whining. Our low last night was in the 90's. On Thursday it was over 110 when I was outside doing yardwork for a few hours.

that was your own stupid choice

I had to get it done because my yard was going nuts and my pool needed to be scrubbed and have its chemicals done so it didn't go green. That's when I had free time so that's when I did it. That's life. You do what you need to get done and inconveniences like getting sweaty doesn't really matter.

There are a lot of people around here who are old enough to be an adult but still don't really have any concept of what that entails. It seems to be very pervasive in out society today. I notice it all the time. Even people in their late 30s that act like little kids when it comes to doing the things in life you are just supposed to do. They just want to do the fun things.

Not really, just the ability to overcharge (money) immensely.

i must admit,i dont overcharge. I know places that do. I am only on 45per hour as a sub contractor and 50 per hour when working direct for client

Labor is an item on the bill, do you tell them that the condenser (outside unit) you just sold them installed for $2500 cost you under a thousand and it only takes a couple of hours max to install? So you charge $90 in labor but made 150% profit on the condenser.

If more people knew the "actual" prices of the parts that go into an HVAC system they would be flabbergasted at the amount of profit in the industry.

acutally no i dont do that shit.

Maintenance work is my bread and butter. When i do install work, i buy the units for trade price, say 1000dollars. The retail price of the same unit would be 1600 dollars. I usually install it for 17 or 1800 dollars. So they are getting a good deal. Most other companies would charge retail price of the unit plus install.

cliffs:I try to look after my clients and generally dont mark up the units.
