from what i remember, it seemed there were many more people getting their accounts banned back then

but maybe that's only because there were many more people on ATOT

in society in general, there were a few things that people commonly said back then which are frowned upon now

It was a lot closer to 4chan than to what we have today no doubt.... and that was by NO MEANS all bad! (4chan will be doing just fine when this place is LONG-gone)

And yes carelessly flailing about with the ban-hammer for personal reasons was a FREQUENT problem because (shockingly) hiding authority behind an "anonymous" generic username/account usually results in zero accountability.
