I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but why not get your Rhodesian puppy now in addition to the little guy? If they're both pups, they should grow up fine together. It's not like the little dog will add that much to the expense of taking care of the animals. Only thing is it won't be good for outdoor activities... a dog sitter would be in order.

only thing I can think of is to let her be responsible for making the dog be potty-trained and clean up after it. you'll prob have to feed it to make sure it doesn't starve, but make it clear to the wife that the dog is her responsibility....and of course, constantly be "out of contact" so that she can't dump the ball of fur on your lap and has to clean up after its messes....

and a lot of misinformation in this thread. Yorkies can be hard to potty train, but in my experience they are not yappy. My family has had them since the 70s, and my wife and I have 2.

Someone mentioned teacup yorkies having brain damage...not quite true....teacups do tend to have more physical problems down the road, but it's not a hard and fast rule. It's also impossible to tell a dog's size based on it's parents....our younger pup's father was 5 pounds, his mother 8. He was the lone pup, and he is now 18 pounds at almost 2 years. He got ALL the milk...
