Pie disables the ability to record phone calls, will never upgrade to pie until they change that. Horrible decision IMO on googles part.

Having to root your phone just to record phone conversations is just asinine.

I like it a lot, has all the features and apps I need. I've barely used the S pen and still have to learn what else it is/not capable of and it's limits.
No complaints. Maybe root it soon if needed.

There's no need to root most modern Android devices, especially Samsung devices.

You will blow the Knox eFuse and permanently disable Samsung Pay, S-Health, Secure Folder, Knox itself. Even if you unroot, they're gone forever. So, there goes resale, because who's gonna buy a Samsung phone when you can't use Samsung features?

i didnt know this, i have one galaxy s9 plus updated to pie on its own and one that wont update since dec..(gets stuck at 27% most likely will have to hardreset it to finish the update) dont know how much i care if its updated or not. the ability to record a call doesnt sound very exciting to me but i guess why not just record the speakerphone conversation if needed or make a call on a different phone? how often do you illegally record someone? or you just say hey im recording you and it makes it legal? never worry about it

I record many phone conversations, i use my phone alot for my sidejob and recording the phone call is the best way for me to keep track of exactly what was discussed/ordered so i can refer back to the recording later to ensure all measurements and connectors are correct and ensure i do not miss anything during assembly. Obviously yes i tell anyone im recording that i am recording.

To be honest what is the major feature of pie that people prefer over older andriod version? I did upgrade from my note 4 which was stuck on 6.x i think to last year samsung phone just after it received pie (when I turned it on the first time it upgraded to pie) but to be honest I'm not sure there is a huge difference from a user perspective between 6.x and 9.x - but some of this might be due to samsung layering (which did change - i prefer the old icons to the new icons which are cartonish) - hum should i start a new thread ?

On regular devices, it's mostly a downgrade.

On recent Samsungs, the Pie update brings in a system dark mode and improves Iris scanner function. Plus you can revert the awful iOS-style app switcher by disabling the Samsung launcher.

Got it yesterday on my s8 (boost mobile).

I like it so far...

I updated my womans S8+ and its horrible. I need to factory refresh this thing. She claims ads are popping up, hates the low auto brightness (doesnt know how to change it) and all sorts of crap. I havent seen her in a bit but we are going out tonight so I will set up everything properly. She's really not tech savvy and is probably a prime candidate for an iphone, but not on my watch.
