You'll be back. Having to EXPLAIN to people WTF Dvorak is == PITA. When someone else sits at your comp, "Well, it's a special keyboard system that nobody uses, but it's cool!" And what about using other computers? Gonna carry a dvorak in your back pocket?

My QWERTY skills were permanently weakened by attempting Dvorak, so I'm a little bitter

I tried dvorak left. it was alright, the laerning curve is not as steep as qwerty i think, but i realized it dont really need what extra performance it offers.

It's fun, I'm up to as much as 40 wpm in it, depending how complicated what I'm typing is. 100 in qwerty.

i'm sorry, you lose. Any keyboard can be a dvorak keyboard, its just a simple setting in the windows control panel... little bit harder in linux. Yes, the keys won't be labelled properly, but once you learn it you wont be looking at the keyboard anyway, just like you don't look at (or you shouldnt be) looking at your keyboard now.

I have no problem switching between Dvorak and Qwerty. The again, this is my keyboard (Except Dvorak), so using any "normal" keyboard is more of a challenge than the whole Dvorak/Qwerty switch.

Winnar!

Also, I just realized that keyboard shortcuts are going to be messed up. Can ctrl+c,x,v be remapped?

Would it be easy to use Ctrl-Insert and Shift-Insert for copy and paste on the Dvorak style?

It's not hard to switch between Dvorak and Qwerty. It's like learning different languages.

Even if you don't go any faster than you did with Qwerty... it'll feel a lot more comfortable. Less finger moving. It's great.

gave up pretty damned easy, eh?

I guess so. I just realized that there's no reason for it beyond 'self-improvement'. It'd probably end up being a pain when I used other computers. What can I say, it's just not worth it. QWERTY is fast enough. Luckily, I don't think I've impaired my QWERTY skills at all.
