Im going crazy...usb problem

I dont know what im doing wrong. But I have this problem on my computer. I have a gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R and sometimes when I plug something into the front usb it crashes my computer and it restarts. I kinda gave up on fixing this so fastfoward 2 years and I help my friend build a computer using a GA-MA785GM-US2H. Now the same thing is happening too him. But strangely when I plug something into the rear ports sometimes it does the same thing, it also does it alot on the front ports.

Check the front panel headers. You might be activating the motherboard's short protection.

I checked the front usb header on my computer and all seems good. The usb cables match the header on the motherboard. Im checking the other build as soon as I can.

Does it happen with all USB devices? Does it happen only with input devices such as keyboards and mice, and works fine with flash drives? If so, that motherboard has a PS2 input, I would try uninstalling all the USB Controller Drivers, and reboot. Then letting Windows reinstall them for you.

I agree...Uninstall all your USB root hubs in device manager (you'll need a PS2 mouse), and reboot. Windows will automatically reinstall them on startup.

Ok thanks for all the help. I found a solution to the problem (as long as it doesnt come back). I read about someone else having a similar problem so I tried their solution. I had to goto the device manager and then look at every usb ports. There is an option "allow this computer to turn off usb to save power" that I had to uncheck. After doing that restarted and they are all check again, but the problem seems to have magically gone away.
