I'm going to have knee surgery

I hurt my knee nearly 20 years ago playing football. I never got it fixed because it was an on again off again issue. Over the past few months its been really bad, so I finally saw an ortho.

The diagnosis was pilca syndrome with patella maltracking. Basically nothing is torn, I just have some things that get irritated when they get used a lot.

I go in on the 30th for surgery. I'm pretty excited at the possibility of not having to deal with the pain anymore.

IANAD, but it's good nothing's torn, that should help your prospects quite a bit.

I had to had my left knee meniscus done about 10 years ago, they did a great job on it, my right one got borked a few months back think I might have to have that done soon myself.

They really have gotten better over the years, my left knee still feels perfect, went to a sports doc the does the Rays and Buccs myself.

It's much better than it used to be years ago.

Not every orthopedic surgeon is good at arthroscopic surgery.....

That's one thing I am blessed with: My regular doctor is a sports medicine doctor. He's the team doc for 2 of the local colleges and one university. He's also the team doc for two of the local pro sports teams. When I had an injection done, a team trainer from MSU did the procedure while a team trainer for GVSU observed.

The ortho seems pretty good as well. I'm really hoping I can get away with only taking 2 days off work since this is a crazy time of year for us.

A guy at work just went in for a double knee replacement about 2 weeks ago. The bastard is already up and walking around like nothing ever happened. Modern medicine is truly amazing in this day and age.

Remember you live in MI...that's not really great sports medicine.

I know 2 people who died during knee surgery.
Also 1 person who ended up losing their leg due to infection.
Another is on their second knee surgery because the original was botched.

They were all between 30 and 50.
