Moon is pretty under rated I'd say, I still rewatch it now and then.

The other two are good if you've never seen them I'd say Interstellar over Gravity.

Followup post with reviews:

- It's about space that's very far away.
- (??? I don't know any recent Moon movies.)
- It's about space that's kind of close.

Gravity has some ridiculously incorrect physics in it, but that aside it captured some of the drama of space.

Interstellar was classic Nolan/Zimmer - wooooooomp. It took a looooong time to develop the story to where I really felt like something was actually going to happen in the movie.

Moon is great.

Gravity unfortunately is really to be seen in 3D on the big screen. It loses much of its charm otherwise.

Interstellar is decent. The ending is meh.

I never saw Moon, the other 2 were just meh. The Martian is a better space flick.

I haven't seen Interstellar but The Martian was excellent, Moon and Gravity were good to very good.

Interstellar sucked.

Gravity I seen in the theater in 3D. Was good. So was The Martian. Never seen Moon.

I thought Interstellar and Gravity both sucked. Never saw Moon. The Martian is where it's at, and it isn't on your list!

Gravity > Moon > Interstellar > The Martian

First 2 somewhat interchangeable depending on mood, last 2 I don't really care about.

Moon is my favorite.

Interstellar is thought-provoking. Excellent score. Disappointing ending.

Gravity is worthless if you're not in IMAX 3D.

Moon is the best.

Interstellar is great, but is best served on a nice system with yuuge image and big sound.

Likewise with Interstellar, but Gravity must be watched in a gigantic theater with perfect sound and 3D. If you aren't doing that, then don't bother. The story is typical and rather meh. You can complain about physics and all that nonsense like a nerd would, but none of that is the point: Gravity is simply meant to be experienced like a ride.

Gravity's whole schtick was the isolation and hopelessness of being in space. You can't recreate that with a 27" TV in your bedroom from 14 feet away. If you don't have a big screen with big sound then you will be dissappointed.

Interstellar was a space movie. Moon was a drama set in space. Interstellar had a lot more action and a lot more going on. Moon was slightly more though provoking. Both were better than Gravity.

2001 > Gravity in IMAX > Contact > Moon > Interstellar in IMAX > The Martian > Gravity on a tv > Starship Troopers > Interstellar on a tv

2001 > Gravity in IMAX > Contact > Moon > Interstellar in IMAX > The Martian > Gravity on a tv > Starship Troopers > Interstellar on a tv

No movie-ranking progression chart is legitimate without Top Gun, regardless of genre.

Moon is a proper science fiction film. Good movie all around.
Gravity is Speed in space, fun exciting thriller, but, not at all "science" fiction.
Intersteller is interesting/fun drama film with a soft scifi setting. I liked it quite a bit. Solid movie.

How'd you like them?

And 2001 on Bluray on projector with full DTS setup > 2001 on inferior setup > top gun

My suggested order to watch is

Gravity

Moon

Interstellar

according to a fictional timeline of what could happen now

A "few" years in the future

A "few more" years in the future.

Moon was good but oddly enough the trailer I saw for it clued me in on a major plot point before I even read any reviews. I don't know if that was obvious or I just watched a lot of sci-fi with similar elements just before Moon came out.

You can't watch Gravity THEN Interstellar. Interstellar will just feel like a bad knock off. Watch it first.

Kinda like when I have kids they are going to watch the Hobbit movies long before I let them watch the Lord of The Rings movies. I bet the Hobbit movies are pretty awesome if you have never seen LOTR before.

What? No. I would guess that most of us saw Gravity first then Interstellar (unless my memory is failing me). Although, I do not think they are anything like each other.

And poor poor Interstellar wasn't fully appreciated because of it.

Can you imagine how excited we would have been about Interstellar if it came first? All the talk would have been about how awesome the spinning space parts were in IMAX instead of the wormhole science or obvious plot holes.
