I'm gonna let you finish 'Muricah, but Mexico seems to have better drivers.

It's amazing that everyone drive defensively and aggressively at the same time, but everyone go on their merry ways. No road rages, no horns blaring, they just drive.

They seem to be very aware of their surroundings, and in a weird way very courteous to other drivers.

We have a long way to go.

They don't have a cell phone in one hand and a Starbucks in the other, so it all works out.

I just had a similar experience driving in Costa Rica. People pass you, you pass them, etc...noone gets butthurt over these things. Live and let live. A stark contrast to driving in the land of the entitled douche bag.

bwahahhahah....yeah....right. In Mexico, Stop signs don't matter. Red lights don't matter. There are three lanes? Why not drive like there are four. Right of way? What's that? Let's all drive to the left and then all cut in at the last second to exit. Let's drive on the shoulder too to make more room. And while we are at it, let's block the intersections too.

But there are orders in the chaos of it all, really amazing to observe.

People in the US would kill each others for half of the things that they're doing here, and it's just normal. No one is thinking that it's their right to do anything on the road. They drive with a purpose.

They seem to leave their egos at home, and it's great.

I would also be pretty chill while driving to avoid pissing off cartel members and the policia.

As a Texan I will say "false." I hate getting behind Mexican trucks on the road.

No shit. I live out by a ton of orchards and have to deal with pickers driving to and from work. They're either driving 15 under or theres an asshat in a clapped out min-van trying to pass people and barely being able to go faster than them.

All of that and the fatality rate per person is about the same as in the States.

Last time I was in MX a couple months ago they drove bumper to bumper.. pure madness, scared the bejezzus out of me, but yeah, they are used to it.. all that close driving there would be sure to end up as road rage or fist fight or worse here.

Driving in Mexico is scary as hell. Lights are optional. Speed limits are optional. Lanes are optional, "It's such a nice road, it would be a shame to use only half of it." Pedestrians in the travel lanes at night. Maintenance is optional. Stopping dead in the middle of the highway just because is just alright with me.

You guys are missing the point, it's not the chaos that's expected that would scare you, it's the unexpected chaos that's should scare you.

See, in Mexico, you expect people to do these things, so it's normal. Here, you expect people to follow the rules, and they don't when they want to, so you don't expect it.

People here do the same shits, just not when you want or expect them to, and there's always attitude.

I heard Mexico taxis are pretty scary too. Like, literally hold on for your life scary. Personally I would not really venture in the non tourist areas, especially at the border area with the drug cartel gangs.

The funny thing about statistics is that...when you look closer: Much more of the American population drive than Mexicans. In Mexico, a whopping thrid of the traffic fatalities are motorcyclists, bikers, and pedestrians.

There's this thing called a TJ driver. It's not a good term to use either. No sorry, Mexico does not have better drivers.
