But then, I'm not a fashion plate metro.

AF clothes are higher quality than Old Navy. If you are saying that the fabric and stitch from AF is the same as Old Navy, you must be smokin crack!!!

The $80 shirts are nicest.

Your $80 shirt vs my 6 $14 shirts from Samsclub = no comparison

bwahahahah......Why buy a Lexus when you can get 3 Hyundais!!!

The majority of Samsclub clothes are name brand like Polo, etc.

You are probably talking to someone that still lives at home and whose mommy buys their clothes.

No, I'm saying TJMaxx sells the SAME STUFF at a fraction of the price.

Outdated fashion for half the price. Big Whoop.

Maybe when you grow up, and stop thinking you are defined by what you wear and what music you listen to, you'll understand.

Oh, so, people who like to wear nice things and drive nice cars are immature and need to grow up? I guess everyone in Hollywood is immature and everyone in Hicksville, Idaho are soooo mature.

Honestly, I went to Abercrombie last month, and walked out of the store with three longsleeve button down shirts that fit me perfectly for less than a hundred dollars. I could care less about brandname, but those shirts are built to last.

Their CEO is a NUTJOB though.

I will never understand spending $80 on a shirt, but that's just me

I have several 5 year old pairs of Arizona jeans that are still wearable, my brother had to throw away a couple pairs of A/F jeans because they developed giant holes at the knees/pockets.

Comparing cars to clothes? Apples and oranges.

You can wear perfectly nice clothes without going to name brand mall stores and spending 5-10 times the money.

Exactly. AF clothes are built to last. Their stitch and build quality are top notch.

I like the look but too expensive for me. I picked up some knock off stuff in China that looks the same. I hear they might not be fake and simply stuff taken from the factory. Either way, + for me. But in the end, i prefer GAP and AE

I can not sand A&F. I do not care for their styles, I never really thought that their clothes were as durable as some people claim and I do have an issue with how they market things.

Even though I loath A&F, I think it is reasonable to buy good quality clothes. For instance I love Banana Republic, the fit is awesome, the quality is good, details like free hemming makes it even more sweet. Buying and wearing good quality clothing just makes you feel better and helps with confidence. So many people like to rag on others spending money on name brand clothing but it does make a difference in appearances. Also contrary to what you may think, appearances do mean quite a lot. - perhaps you think it is wrong or lame or whatever, but that is the harsh reality.

I bought buttoned down collared shirts from A&F for $29.95. Old navy's price on a button down collared shirt starts at $29.99. And you can't tell me they are similar in quality. Double stitched and heavy fabric compared to something that looks like cheap bedsheet material. If you are an educated and non-impulsive consumer, you can stretch your dollar AND afford higher quality merchandise.

Some people like fashion, and want to look good. Not everyone is fine with wearing crappy looking kmart or cosco brand clothing. Maybe when you grow up, you'll understand that fact.

But I do not wear "crappy kmart or cosco brand clothing."

Almost everything I have is name brand, high quality clothing.

The difference is, I don't walk into mall stores and pay 5 times the price for them.

100% correct.

I just spent a good bit of money at Gap, and I don't regret it at all. I know the clothes I got look good, and that's worth the slightly inflated price.

Yeah but whats the point of buying clothes to be popular if you can't tell everyone you spent $80 on your shirt?

i'm all for decent brand quality clothing

but Abercrombie is all fad, preppy, clone-ware - congrats on fitting in

amazingly, they used to be a generic clothing sold dirt cheap at big box stores

So where do you shop? I have a feeling the "all fad, preppy, clone-ware" broad generalization that you librally applied would fit just as well.

They can tell if it's a linen shirt.

What makes you think you look good or if it's even possible for you to look good no matter how much you pay?

I have had the same experience at Walmart...

LOL... .. .

Anyhow, I think that if you're hooked to rip-off clothes like that, you have not obviously visisted Kmart, Target, Walmart, or the outlet stores, and who knows, maybe those brands you mentioned are the only one that offer XX-L + XX-L sizes, lose some weight for a change.

Oh yeah, one more thing, some Americans grew up with only one set of clothing, meaning that when their clothes wuz bein' washed, they had to stay home from school.
