There is wide variation even within a particular country of origin. The most consistently highly-regarded rifles tend to be Russian-made Arsenal (Saiga), VEPR, etc.
A WASR is a Romanian AK pattern rifle made by Cugir in Romania. They are generally regarded as bottom tier (at least if assembled by Century Arms) but are generally sufficient for blasting targets at the range. Quality on average is not as good as a Saiga, VEPR, etc.
This is definitely accurate as far as my AK shopping went. Some are straight and look good, some are crap. Importer/country doesnt always mean anything.
I was originally planning on purchasing a Polish Tantal but after shopping around a bit i ended up with a Hungarian that has been nothing but fun! Feel free to PM me with AK questions
