Go to Aimsurplus or ammoman - I can't beat their pricing.

What? Everyone knows that FFLs are all millionaires, so to hell with you, I'll go buy that gun at The Bass Pro\Academy\Dicks\Cabella's instead where it's cheaper! You can just go swim in your Scrooge McDuck style swimming pool full of money.

I have an old timey pistol (1930-something Colt Woodsman?), but nothing to ask about it. Sorry, but I commend you on your endeavor!

Edit: Oh, I do have a firearms-related question to pose. What's the deal with Remington Model 700 'misfires'? Rumor? Fact? Heresay? I have one (1981?) and was just wondering if I need to get it 'fixed'. I can't recall having a problem with it when I used it in the 80's and 90's every year. *shrugs*

Wasn't that "problem" basically people putting their fingers on the trigger when they shouldn't be?

The Remington 700 from the factory is a fine rifle. When it starts getting monkeyed with, you get what creates a made for TV expose special.

I know of no customers that have had that issue with a factory gun. However, monkeying with anything on any firearm can lead to bad results - the 700 is just one of the more public examples.

With a trigger job and the trigger set up properly by a competent gunsmith, it is a fine rifle.

The first NRA rule of gun handling is point the gun in a safe direction.

People get shot when the gun is not pointed in a safe direction.

I imagine that is where the issue originates.

What is better?

A 20" barrel HD Shotgun with 8 shots
A 18.5" barrel HD Shotbun with 6 shots

Should I attach a light? If so would 6 shot might be better b/c the light could be right under the barrel at the end of the tube?

What type of home defense ammo should I use if I have thin walls and kids? I know it's very tricky b/c anything that will penetrate and stop a human will go through walls. I'm more concerned about over penetration than stopping power at this point b/c of kids and a high density neighborhood.

If that Woodsman is in good condition, it's worth a pretty penny.

That's what my Pappy says too. It still has the box, which I guess is a good thing. There's just a tiny 'rub mark' from where my grandfather would put it in the holster.

Having the original box would definitely add to it's value. I looked up the Colt Woodsman series in a gun collector's book from 2008 (newest one I have).

If the slight finish wear is all thats "wrong" with it, and depending on model, it could be worth several thousand dollars (without the box). Now there are several different models so you'd have to verify which one it is.

I see some models regularly go on gunbroker for over $1000. Even some of the more beat up ones can go for several hundred dollars.

Now if it's a family heirloom type of thing, then that could just make it priceless to you as well.

Slow hit beats a fast miss - the better gun is the one you shoot better.

Lights can be cumbersome but useful. Depending on the mounting option though. I have a Benelli M1 that has a pressure sensitive pad that tends to turn on when I don't want it to turn on.

The type/brand of ammo is less relevant than caliber. If you have thin walls and kids and you have a high density neighborhood and don't want a bullet going next door - Get an AR15.

That is not a joke, AR15's will not penetrate drywall. 9mm will.

how can you say i'm wrong when you can't even say for certain either?
The way he is holding it looks like bump fire to me.

what NRA 3 rules are you referring to?

I said I was joking. A friend showed me that vid and I wanted to use it.

It could be, but the NRA three rules are - safe direction, finger off trigger and unloaded until ready to use.

Seems like a safe direction from my section of the internets.

you did?

I'm not sure what the 3 rules have to do with anything we were discussing about that video?
