op - seriously i wouldn't worry about it for the most part. there are always going to be the ignorant idiots that retaliate and somehow think it fixes the problem, as they play their banjo, but that happens no matter what and thankfully they are pretty few and far between.

as others have already said, crazy is crazy and mental illness has no boundaries. this guy didn't go crazy for any other reason than some type of chemical imbalance in his brain, plain and simple.

the media keeps point out that he was a loner - so what. the media will do anything to take the fact that the guy was mental and he is the only reason this happend. the shooter was mental - that is not good tv, the media must blame it on something, what else would they have to report on? their must be something for the media to continue making $$ off of and other peoples suffrage regardless of the situation makes them $$$.

when i was watching cnn yesterday i couldn't believe how many times i heard the question of how many had expired - why not ask how many are doing ok in the hospital? how many got out unhurt? this is the sick side of the american culture, where bad=good, sad=good, tragedy=good because it all means more $$$ for the media.

anyway i will get off my rant, but op, keep your head up and don't worry about it.

You believing in a different God from anyone else kills more people than wars, drugs and health issues.

(after all, making that illegal would certainly have stopped him from getting one...the other gun laws sure work so well...)

cnn (i know) posted the serials had been filed off...fwiw

I heard that too, but the question is, did he buy stolen guns with the serial numbers already filed off, or file them off in hopes of getting away with whatever he was planning?

Filing off the serial numbers is pointless, they can still be identified using acid, unless you know the work-around.

i understand there are many workaround and many serials on the weapons. in all reality if a legitimate gun shop sold this guy a gun when they shouldn't then their license should be taken from them, and this goes not just for him but any legitimate store. if he got them stolen, well that is the way criminals will always have weapons and thus that is why having more gun laws won't help situations. enforce the laws that are already on the books.

My wife is Korean, and I spent a some time living in South Korea. One thing I have noticed from watching the news over the years is some Koreans are really radical when they get mad. For the most part, most Koreans I have met are easy going, hard working, and not very verbal or violent. Korea is suppose to be the Land of the Morning Calm. I guess some men in Korean society are taught to be tough and show no emotion, and sometimes this type of male macho mental psychology gets to the boiling point and just blows up. Keeping all emotions under control can be bad for some people.

Asian cultures are a lot different than American Culture. It is like apples and oranges.

Some of this is the Korean Genetic makeup and some of it is the culture.

With a mindset like that you should be worried. We Americans suspect that you are the next killer. But the rest of the Korean population has nothing to worry about, because the people in Korea have not much of a harmful ideology that could be spread overseas to Koreans in the USA whom not relate to it. His actions had nothing to do with his indigenous Nation, Cluture, or Religion. It is actions in the name of those reasons previously mentioned that make Americans worried for their safety and not some random act of violence.

Such BS, Korean and Vietnamese kids whom were raised in the USA relate to the American cultural lifestyle and they often feel that the people of their homeland is something very foreign or strange to them. Culture is something that you are raised to believe and not something that is part of your genetic makeup.

One of the victims is Korean, so it's not like this psycho only targeted whites. There are bad apples in all races.

It's been my experience that most women raised in American culture are. But yeah, it does seem like certain ethnicities/nationalities have more of a propensity to it, and Koreans are amongst that group.

I don't care at all, that you're Asian. I have Korean friends. Also, I got your sig without the need for an explanation.

I'm just waiting to see if any pigs come out of the wood work and start hating on Asians for no reason. It's sad that we can literally expect that to happen, like when people were attacking middle-easterners on the buses in NYC after 9/11.

Patriots my ass.

I am korean and moved to Northern Virginia from Maryland a couple of years ago. Some of the things I have noticed for a while now is that a lot of korean kids/people here are spoiled. When their parents are working 24/7, they're obviously not watching what their kids are doing. Also, when you see high school kids with BMWs and Benz, you know something isn't right. And, when you go to coffee shops around this area, there are a lot of asian kids, especially on weekends. They are very loud and have no consideration for the people around them. This generates many stereotypes and fuels racism.

The overall feeling I get from the majority korean population here is that they are materialistic. They always talk about cars, houses, jobs, Ivy League schools; it gets quite annoying. I just want to say that I am against this kind of lifestyle, and I do not represent this group of korean people. People like this obviously ruin it for others. Although it's not right, society tends to blame people based on their race whenever someone from that race does something bad. You can see it in the facebook groups right now. Comments like, "F**k that chineese bitch." even though the VT shooter isn't chinese.

This guy came to the U.S. when he was eight. Basically he grew up here with American influence and culture. Legally he is not an American citizen, but he is damn close.

So this didn't happen because he is Asian or Korean. He was just a psycho who decided to kill innocent civilians.

Look at these school incidents, bad apples in all races:

Oct. 2, 2006: A 32-year-old gunman enters an Amish schoolhouse in Nickel Mines, Pa., and holds 10 girls hostage before shooting them. Five girls are killed, and five wounded. The gunman also kills himself.

Sept. 13, 2006: Kimveer Gill, 25, opens fire at Dawson College in Montreal, killing one woman and injuring 20 people.

Aug. 30, 2006: 19-year-old man in Hillsborough, N.C., kills father, then opens fire at Orange High School, wounding two students before surrendering to police.

Nov. 8, 2005: Student at high school in Jacksboro, Tenn., shoots and kills assistant principal. Principal and another assistant principal wounded.

March 21, 2005: 16-year-old boy in Red Lake, Minn., fatally shoots grandfather and grandfather's partner at home, then goes to Red Lake High School, where he kills five students, a teacher and a security guard before committing suicide.

Feb. 3, 2004: 14-year-old boy in Palmetto Bay, Fla., stabs and slits throat of 14-year-old classmate at Southwood Middle School.

Sept. 24, 2003: 15-year-old boy shoots two classmates at Rocori High School in Cold Spring, Minn. Both students died.

March 5, 2001: 15-year-old freshman opens fire with .22-calibre pistol at Santana High School in Santee, Calif., killing two students and injuring 13 others.

April 20, 2000: Four students and one staff member wounded in knife attack at Cairine Wilson High School in Orleans, Ont. Occurs on first anniversary of Columbine massacre.

Dec. 6, 1999: 13-year-old student fires at least 15 shots at Fort Gibson Middle School in Fort Gibson, Okla., wounding four classmates.

Nov. 19, 1999: 12-year-old boy shoots 13-year-old girl in head at school in Deming, N.M. Girl dies next day.

April 28, 1999: 14-year-old boy shoots two students, one fatally, at W.R. Myers High School in Taber, Alta.

April 20, 1999: Two heavily armed teenagers rampage through Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo., killing 12 students and one teacher before committing suicide.

I wouldn't be surprised if this whole shooting was traced back to WoW or SC.
