I am a coffee snob and I will drink Eight O'Clock any time its offered. For cheap coffee, they do a great job. I'll take it over Starbucks or gas station "premium" coffee.
I was a little upset because the price went up by a couple dollars not too long ago. But then again its still half the price of most of the coffee I drink.
When I grew up on the East coast, Eight O'Clock, Red Circle, and Bokar (sp?) were the A&P house brands.
Mentioning Eight O'Clock brings back childhood memories of old A&Ps that had a manual grinder next to their Eight O'Clock in bulk bins, and watching adults use it.
<-------- Antithesis of any sort of coffee snob.
Just made some right now.
Eww, that kind of looks like dishwater, coffee that weak I cannot stand.

Lol. It's stronger than it looks. Ethiopia duromina. Most other coffee I brew comes out way darker using the same quantity of fresh grounds.
If all you can taste is "bitter" it's not good coffee, though.
I thought the same. That's one good thing about tea. It has a wide range of strengths where it tastes acceptable, if not optimal.
Not for black tea. Strong black tea is too tannin-rich. It always gives me an upset stomach. Oolong also, to a lesser degree. Green tea is more forgiving, and white tea even more so.
I like my coffee like I like my women.. cold & bitter.
