I'm moving. I ranted about Utah enough here, but this is the last straw.

I am not going to turn this into a religious debate but this is fucking ridiculous. I swear they are trying to run off all the non mormons here. This is just FUCKING ridiculous. I realize it's not a law yet, but Alabama looks sophisticated compared to this shit.

FUCK UTAH

NO cold beer at grocery stores or gas station period.

But one beer drinker we talked to brought up the following point, saying, "A lot of beer isn't filtered. It has live organisms in it which will actually spoil if it?s warm for too long."

Do you think these idiots care about that? They want to push their ways on everyone else.

That's right you can't buy cold beer in Utah except at a bar where you have to pay a membership fee.

Where is that guy that I argued with awhile back that said mormons don't have any effect on laws/government in Utah.

Don't you live in Provo or somewhere in Utah County? I can get all the cold beer I want at gas stations and grocery stores. They don't sell cold beer at state liquor stores . Why not move to SLC county with the rest of the heathens. You live too close to Alpine anyways (it's a dry city).

This is why, for the love of all that is sacred in this country, we should NOT ELECT MITT ROMNEY AS POTUS.

Lots of beer is kept at room temp until it's sold at my grocery store. Yeah it's a dumb law but seems like a minor inconvenience to me.

Did you read the article? No cold beer at Grocery stores or Gas stations PERIOD in all of Utah. So yes, if these lawmakers get their way no more cold beer for you, until you chill it first.

Oh Dear God. Do you honestly think that Romney will be able to push laws like this across the entire country when he didn't even try in Massachusetts? He'd have to have >50% of the Congress and Senate be Mormons or sympathizers.

and no, I don't support Romney btw.

You would be amazed at how many provisions are 'snuck' deep inside national legislation. Example.

Sad/funny but I don't think the same thing will work with booze. This country seems willing to put up with a lot of political BS, out of control spending, yadda yadda yadda. The one thing people won't put up with is taking away their booze. We've already gone through prohibition once and it was a disaster.

If you asked me in 2000 if I thought Bush could lead the entire country into a multi-front trillion dollar war based on nothing but repeated false statements, I would have said you're crazy.

Banning cold beverages doesn't seem like such a big leap, by comparison.

Reading the final bill that was passed and signed (PDF), I don't see what Cafferty is mentioning. It may have been in a previous version but not here. The only thing of note is the standard US sovereignty lines for US citizens and government agents regarding international commissions which isn't any different from the previous stance of protecting US citizens from the World Court.

That study you linked is not noteworthy btw. It comes from Soros backed partisan groups. In other words, everything they say should be taken with a large grain of salt.

Yeah, what are you complaining about OP? It's not like this law would inconvenience you. All you have to do is haul around a cooler, bag of ice, and bag of salt.

Thanks for the advice but I am not going out of my way any more for these people. Our liquor laws are a joke already. Totally illegal to own a keg of beer here. We already have the most ridiculous liquor laws in the country. No way, the Mormons can have their dry state. I don't fucking care anymore. The Mormons and Utah can fucking have their state. Fuck it.

The mayor of my city wanted to close down the PUBLIC golf course on sundays a few years ago. It didn't fly but that gives you an example how these people think and want things to be.

How is that not an inconvenience? He has to get a whole bunch of stuff and wait 10-15 minutes. No, it's not an insurmountable task, but that's the very definition of inconvenience.

Me grabbing nice cold beer at the store: convenient.
Me having to do other stuff to make warm beer cold: less convenient. Thus, the law inconveniences someone who wants cold beer.

Religious folks pushing their religious views on others: the suck.

blue laws are everywhere in america.

In the bible belt there are many places that are 'dry' towns. Even some where videogames are banned publicly.

Mormons are extremely delusional.
The Mormon cult is even more scary than Scientologists, due to their size.
