I'm probably going to get a Saab 9-3 Linear this week.

I went into the Saab dealership today looking to get in on the Saab 9-2X deal. no luck. no such car to be found.

but i test drove a Saab 9-3 linear and think that mb it might be the better buy. it's a pretty sweet vehicle. only 160 hp or so, but that's more than enough for me. i like the car because it's roomier than the 9-2x.

any ideas? any major objections before i make the buy.

i'm pretty sold on the car but am willing to listen to good objections.

i love my 9-5

they arent rated as the most reliable cars, but take care of them and they will be.

5 speed?

why not the Aero or Arc? doesnt it bump horsepower up to around 230?

www.saabcentral.com for any questions

the turbo is fun, you will find power around 2k rpm in all gears except 5th if you get a manual.

There was a thread a while ago about the top ten most unreliable cars of the year. Unfortunately, the 9-3 had a lot of electrical problems (like most of the other cars listed).

If you are willing to take the risk I would say go for it since the new Saabs are sweet. If I would consider another car besides a Volvo Turbo it would most definately be a 9-3 Aero.

The only Saab I would ever buy is the 9-2x & only because it's a Subaru in Saab guise.

Avoid the rest of Saab's lineup like the unholy plague it is.

they did, in 99. but not anymore they seem to have fixed them.

once you drive one though, they are so comfy, so roomy, so very thought out it seems.

that's why i like it. an exterior package a bit smaller than a Civic but almost as roomy (in the front anyway, not as much rear room) as an Accord.

i'm a bigger than average size guy and i don't like small cars. the 9-2x is too small interior wise.

mines a 9-5 so yea its a bit bigger. and i can comfortably fit 2 6'3 ppl one behind the other in the car.

but is it a 5 speed? its a sweet manual car.

9-3 is a beautiful vehicle. Unfortunately all the snobs here on campus drive one.

yup. gonna get the 5 speed.

i'm also looking for reasonably good gas mileage in a car. this one isn't the best but it's bound to be much better than my Intrique which only average 18 to 19 mpg for mixed driving.

I'd go for the Aero package. Lots more power and other goodies, like a nicer interior.

Better yet, go for the S40 package. From Volvo. Then you'll have a car that isn't an insane cobbling of European overengineering and GM's crappy parts. Saabs are serious problem cars. That doesn't bother some people (like me) but it might bother you to have to make a few trips to the dealer each month.

I love the way the new Saabs look, and drive.

i get 26 mpg on my 9-5 31 on the highway, about 26 on a cityesque drive (drive to end of street 1/3 mile, stop turn left drive 1 mile stop at stop light if red, drive 2 miles stop turn into work)

nourdmrolNMT1, you need a 3" downpipe, 3" SS mandrel bent exhaust, and an ECU upgrade. And some BBS RG-Rs in diamond black. The Saab 9-5 from hell.

so i should do better with the Saab 9-3, smaller engine, smaller car and less of a boost on the turbo should = better gas mileage than what you are getting right?

I just can't get over the interior of the 9-5
Hopefully they'll update it for 2006. The 9-5 Wagon seems like a nice replacement for my suv.

No, PAG vehicles are excluded from all promotions.

The Aston dealer said mean things to me.

But seriously, an S40 T5 is a MUCH more reliable and solid car. And in any trim model, it's more powerful than a Saab. And also very good looking. I might just have to give the looks contest to the Saab though.

With the Employee Pricing, why would anyone buy a Saab that does NOT qualify?

My 3" downpipe is en route to me now. Taking her down to the exhaust shop next week to get it all fitted on. ECU alone on mine does 290hp though.
