I'm probably going to get a Saab 9-3 Linear this week.

stage 2 kit. i know i know.

exhaust will come when i feel its time to replace the slightly rusty one under there right now. and your talking about 280-300 hp i do believe.

hell the ECU does 260.

My 3" downpipe is en route to me now. Taking her down to the exhaust shop next week to get it all fitted on. ECU alone on mine does 290hp though.

you get the aero? mines a 99 so yea no aero or arc packages then. jsut the SE.

however right now i have a tick in my engine, prolly from the tappits, so before i do anything need to get that solved.

uhhhh, who told you that this model doesn't qualify? the salesman at the saab dealership said ALL saabs qualify. i think i'll take his word over yours.

Better yet, go for the S40 package. From Volvo. Then you'll have a car that isn't an insane cobbling of European overengineering and GM's crappy parts. Saabs are serious problem cars. That doesn't bother some people (like me) but it might bother you to have to make a few trips to the dealer each month.

I love the way the new Saabs look, and drive.

S40?

does volvo get the Ford Employee Discount like Saab gets the GM Employee discount? i also get another $1500.00 off because I have an Olds Intrigue.

No, PAG vehicles are excluded from all promotions.

The Aston dealer said mean things to me.

But seriously, an S40 T5 is a MUCH more reliable and solid car. And in any trim model, it's more powerful than a Saab. And also very good looking. I might just have to give the looks contest to the Saab though.

how is the interior in the Volvo, it's pretty nice in the Saab.

like i said, i'm pretty sold on the saab. but i'm not beyond going out to a volvo dealership tomorrow and taking a test drive.

The interior of the S40 is really stunning. The floating console is a work of art. The premium stereo is better than you'll find in any competing BMW or Mercedes. And Volvo seats have a long standing reputation for being the most comfortable seats short of a Rolls.

however saab is normally rated SLIGHTLY VERY SLIGHTLY ahead of volvo in europe for safety, although volvo normally is known as the safest in the U.S. why idk

Hopefully they'll update it for 2006. The 9-5 Wagon seems like a nice replacement for my suv.

whats wrong with the interior?

maybe theres something but mine has some faux wood dash, so it might be a lil different.

o yea, dont forget about the weirdo reverse lift up gate in order to get into reverse and take the key out

That's whats wrong (the first picture).
I like everything else about it tho. I saw on saabcentral that the exterior is being updated, so I'm sure they're doing the interior too.

exterior wise, that volvo looks like it has the same basic design as the Saab. were they designed jointly?

Have you actually sat in it or are you judging fom the picture? I've driven a 9-5 a bunch of times, and although it's not the fanciest interior, I would have to say it is very well laid-out.

i'm just looking at the profile, take out the nose (which is just stylistic) and look at the way the hood goes to the roof and to the trunk. it's very similar to what the saab 9-3 does. and i'm willing to bet they have similar interior dimensions as well.

I sat in one at the local dealer - didn't take it for a drive tho. Looks a little better in person than the picture but I still didn't like it.

I really like the fact that the 250hp wagon is still rated at 30mpg highway.

wait, so if you take out ALL of the styling cues of the roof line, the hood line and trunk line, they look the same? you mean, a car looks like a car?

Olds Intrigue, Pontiac Grand Prix, same care but ya very different stylistic cues.

I'd get a base Saab over a base Volvo. The Saab is turbocharged. The base S40 is not. An S40 T5 will obliterate anything in Saab's lineup though.

Volvo A\Cs are terrible too. I don't understand how Volvo and Saab both make poor A\Cs. How do they get by in the harsh Swedish deserts?

hmm, but the HP ratings are similar. doesn't the Volvo have a bigger 5 cylinder engine compared to the Saab's 2.0 liter 4 cylinder?

Their five cylinders range from 2.4-2.5 now if memory serves. Their older models were 2.3-2.4.
