<< Smoking is for suckers. >>

Smoking is for wusses who aren't man enough to put down the cigs. If you are too wimpy and you have to give in to the cigarettes, that is alright we won't laugh at your weakly stamina for too long.

You should do things that remind you of why you wanted to quit in the first place.

-Try jogging two miles a day or until you throw up.. You'll feel like hell durring the process but it's the cigarettes that did it to you. But you'll feel wonderfull and have more energy that evening. Resist temptation though.

-Eat tasty foods but keep the diet the same. After a week you'll notice the food tasting better because you taste buds are commin out of 22 yrs of shock.

-Think of your child and yourself. Yu want to she them grow and have kids of thier own right?

Also,

Dont hang out with the wrong crowed. (smokers)
Don't go into any store that sells cigarettes
Slow down you stress levels. and meditate evey 4 hours or so thinking about how wonderful being a non-addict will be.

Hey good luck!! I havent had a smoke in about 16 months, since Nov 2000. Funny thing is, my allergies are very bad since i quit. I smoked half to a full pack a day for 7 years, am very glad i quit. Hang in there, you stop craving them after about , well never really. I still have dreams that im lighting up then i wake up feeling guilty and then relieved that i didnt start back up.

<< I figure it's time to quit again. >>

You either quit or don't quit. There's no figureing, just one tonight, smoking lights etc. Because once you make these comprimises with your addiction it has won again and before long you will be smoking regualar be depressed with yourself for failing once again.

that's amazing. i smoked occasionally for 3 years and finally decided last christmas that it wasn't doing any good for me. so i quit cold turkey but i still can't resist lighting up when i drink. i admire your willpower. my dad quit cold turkey 5 years ago after smoking for 25 years, and still depends on nicorette! good luck to you!!!

Made it thru the week. I think I'm over the hump. Friday and Saturday was sheer torture but made it thru without lighting up. Since then I haven't had any really bad cravings. Bought a box of plastic straws and have been chewing the hell out of those...works pretty good.

It's probably too early to declare success, but if I've already seen the worst I don't think I'll ever light up again.

About 5 years ago I decided to quit cold turkey after 10 years of a pack to a pack and a half a day. The worst part of it was, I was working for a cleaning company at the time and stuck in a van most of the time with two chain smokers. I went thru a tin of copenhagen the first week to take the edge off. Since then, I haven't touched a cigarette, cigar or any type of chewin' tobacco since. I'll admit i've had my cravings, but nothing a little will power (and/or some junk food) can't handle. Although, I've caught myself grabbing friends smokes at the bar out of force of habit and almost lighting up. Good luck in your quest to be smoke free.

Good work, Gaard. Take all that money you'd normally spend on cigs and make a college fund for your child. You made it fine living with the burden of paying for cigs prior to quitting, so just divert that expense into a money maker account or a mutual fund. You'll be pleasantly surprised how much you can make off your defunct habit.
