You know...just because you're abandoning corporate life, that doesn't mean you will get your soul back...once you give it away, it's gone forever.
I would also resign from the Republican National Party....couldn't take it anymore. I won't name the company, but they're a large, multinational corporation with over 200k employees and 200k contractors. Maybe more, I really don't know.
I couldn't take being treated like crap anymore. It hurts my brain when a company the size and value of this one says they can't afford to replace my 6 year old laptop. Their raises don't even keep up with inflation. But most of all, they treat you like you're some kind of con in a jail. I mean literally, they have turnstiles with jailbars in the office.
So I'm leaving and going to a much smaller company. My dry cleaning bill will be eliminated, and for many reasons, I look forward to this. I'm also looking forward to the pay and title bump. I really, REALLY just want to rage at my soon-to-be-former employer, but I don't want to burn bridges with any particular people.
Anyway. Here goes the next step of my career...

Yep. I hear you dawg.
If you're not in that inner circle, you can forget good raises, not being thrown under the bus, promotions.
I really want to open a restaurant and go into business for myself. A lot of hard work, but at least I'd be fully in control of my owndestinybankruptcy, and landing my family in the poorhouse for generations to come.
Nah... it grows back slowly over time. At some point, you actually start feeling bad for people you know who got laid off once again because it's no longer a quarterly occurrence.
I've been here for 2 years. They have me a 4 year old, out of warranty laptop when I joined.
Funny thing is that when they hired me, they escalated and got an executive order to pay me beyond the salary cap. I do work well beyond my pay grade and title, received multiple awards for performance and leadership, and was the highest ranked (still am) engineer in the entire line of business.
What did I get? A 1.98% raise and an insulting bonus. Also, out of the 75+ people I've interviewed to essentially replace myself, the 3 people I gave a thumbs up to were all declined because of stupid BS. Basically, since they weren't friends with the mid-level management, they didn't get an offer. Meanwhile, we're left with a bunch of buddies dicking around all day for more money than I make.
Join my world. From the moment you step foot in everyone will tell you: "It's up or out".
...Assuming you like working 50-80 hour weeks....
That's how big companies do business. They crap on employees in order to earn more profit for share holders. Good to hear you're getting out though.
Sorry, not always true. I work for a very large company and am very happy. Good environment, great boss, great pay/bonus structure, very good work/life balance.
Sorry, won't do that, but it is the leader in its industry and a Fortune 250 company.Name of the company, please.

I'll give you another example of the good side of my company. A couple years ago, the president actually sent out an email requesting employees to turn off their company cellphones and log off their computers over the weekends. Business could wait until Monday.
