Today one girl asked me to go to Snowball (school dance) with her , but because I HATE dances , I said I wouldn't go(not like I wouldn't go b/c of her, but because I don't like dances) , and wanted to ask her out , but I'm so fscking shy (and don't speak english very well) that I couldn't ;( ... isn't that suxx ;(

Well if you are really uncomfortable at a dance, then you made the right move in not going. But it is important, like you suggested, to make her understand that you are still interested.

Tell her:

"I'm sorry I can't go to the dance with you. I'm not a very good dancer, but I really would like to get to know you better. Maybe we can see a movie and get something to eat sometime. Or you could just teach me to dance..."

That last part should make her smile which will be a beautiful thing. Take it slow and easy and read her responses to your suggestions. Don't let the language barrier get in the way.

Or, tell her that you are flattered that she asked you and said no because you dont' know how to dance. But that now that you've though about it you really don't want to miss an opportunity to spend time with her and get to know her and that maybe she can teach you how to dance.

Ask her out. The worst thing that could happen is if she says no, but since she asked you to the dance, she probably likes you and will say yes. Don't worry about you english, just be sincere. Good Luck!

If Lauren asked me to go to Prom, I'd be all over it, regardless of whether or not I can dance. I tell girls I can't dance and they tell me, "Oh, we can teach you!!!" Same thing was said in Spanish when I almost dropped it this semester.


Sigh...girls...they all I really want is girls.

Just asking cause I grew up in Hinckley and went to Highland in Medina.

Do you not like dances cause you don't know how, or because you've never been, or cause you've been and they've sucked, or what? Being honest with her (i.e., you like her but aren't comfortable at dances) is what I think you should do.

Get off your ass anton and go to the dance. Unless their doing the waltz it easy to dance. All you have to do is flail your arms all over the place. Women love guys that dance because they're so rare. Women are surprised when I tell them I love to dance. Don't knock it till you've tried it a few times.

So you said no. Big deal. Just go back to her and tell her that you've reconsidered. I sure she wont mind. Gee a lot of the guys here would kill to have girls asking them out.

I'm shy so what. Shyness is a crutch. You've go to work at it. That's the only way to get over it. Last time I checked they did not have a cure for it.

I've been in the same situation .. a really shy guy as well. If I were you and this girl was attractive, I'd try to force myself to go. Just f-ing go, you'll thank yourself later ..

Nobody is watching how you dance, everyone else is too worried about themselves. Just hang out and have fun, be flattered that you were asked!
