I've been on the computer for the past 13 hours doing absolutely nothing besides playing some UT2004 and catching up on Claymore. I lead a very exciting life.

Today was incredibly boring though, even though it's more like yesterday now.

Wow, this is kind of sad.

Maybe you guys could go do something productive? Learn something new? Mow the lawn? Exercise?

I don't know where you're at, but it's 2AM here. Don't think the neighbors would be too pleased.

Edit: If your profile is current, we're both in Austin.

I learn something new every morning in my Calc II class, and I don't have a lawn yet (new house)...I'm sure the OP doesn't want to mow a lawn at 3am either

I play all over the place, I was just playing Capture the Flag on some random ass server. Lemme see if I can find that server.

Hey, there's always something productive to do. Like, we could go to 6th street, and I would consider that productive.

I  Austin!

I certainly think it's better than doing "nothing." Even neffing > nothing!

I suck hard at DM. Let me know if you ever play Capture the Flag or Bombing run or anything...I'm much better at those on big open maps. That DM was so fast paced.

I'm trying to decide if I want to build some sort of speaker kit, and if so... what I'm going to do with them exactly

Well the gf has a pair of POS sony bookshelf speakers with a passive sub hooked up to a dying receiver. Sad business.

She's been soldering since she was ~6 years old and like projects (well mainly taking things apart... but maybe we can reverse the process?). I never learned to solder and honestly I've been using that as an excuse to not consider DIY / Kit options for some audio stuff.

Recently I saw a pair of speakers that would have been upgrades for my main speakers but the current owner has not installed his new crossovers which would need to be installed by whoever got them. I've pretty much decided to not get them, but before that I asked the gf if she would help me solder in the crossovers if I got them and she seemed to think that would be a fun project.

Fast forward to me being bored, and I'm thinking that instead of upgrading my own speakers and have to try to move around huge floorstanders every time I move over the next few years, I'd consider just building a pair of kit speakers for her to use rather than her current ones.

I started off thinking about these
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe...fm?&Partnumber=300-642
since I knew partsexpress was having a sale and free shipping deals as well.

Well, with these deals, why not check out the other kit options, eh?
Hmmm... these aren't that much more
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe...fm?&Partnumber=302-930

And at that point... well... why not just go for the big ones?
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe...fm?&Partnumber=302-940

But wait... what about DIY options? Can I do better than these kits? The main thing preventing me from straying away from a kit is a lack of woodworking materials and tools. We're both in apartments, so that makes cutting MDF rather difficult.

On the other hand...
http://zaphaudio.com/BAMTM.html
Seems to take what's best from the Dayton kit and takes it a step up while the cost goes down a bit if I did my math correctly.
Free shipping for the Partsexpress items combined with a trip to Madisound (4 miles away) would mean no shipping costs.
Just add in finding some method to get the right holes cut into the cabinet and we could be in business.
And if something goes wrong with the cutting?
Well, I guess it's not the end of the world

So I'll have to figure out if I know someone or she knows someone that has some tools who would be willing to help. Maybe HomeBrewerDude

With the finished product, I think I'd have to try them out for a while and then decide if I'd want to use them to as replacements for my work system until I move somewhere that it makes sense to have more than one system at home. The X-LS would have a new home at the gf's place and could continue looking pretty while my coworkers start to think I'm even more insane than they already think.

But of course I haven't asked the gf about this at all yet really since I just spent yesterday evening and it seems all night wasting time. She's due to get up very soon so maybe I should get back to bed so she doesn't notice I've been up
