I need to find me a job where I don't have to bust my ass daily that I can mess things up left and right and the owner will just bitch at the client for wanting too much.

Have you checked into politics?

Things people remember at a wedding:

1. Ceremony
2. Food
2. Speeches
3. Cake
4 First Dance

Things people DO NOT REMEMBER:

1. Dress/tux designs
2. flowers
3. decorations
4. invitations

It doesn't seem like it now, but you're making mountains out of molehills.

Bingo. It doesn't have to be perfect. Relax, trim a little bit off the cards, send them out and get this done.

This is good advice. Also try any local college or high school art department. In my experience, art teachers are nice and relaxed people that like to help out with stuff like this.

Yeah, but it's the principle of the thing, isn't it? It's less that the invitations aren't right and more that this lady sounds like a bitchy turd.

For me its most def. the principal of it. I'm just going to target to get the right size envelopes and then we will address them myself. I just don't want this bitch to have a dime of my money.

Because wedding services are typically not driven by repeat business? The woman doesn't worry about customer retention because most of her customers will only seek her services once; most people don't get married all that frequently.

Summary of solutions presented by ATOT:

1. Leave factual review on yelp/BBB
2a. Visit art/stationary B&M store to enlist help
2b. Go to Kinko's and use cutter to trim invitation to fit
3. Profit!

Paying with a debit card was one of the stupidest things you can do. CC's have far better protections than debit cards. Plus, people listen to you when you still have the money.

You should be able to dispute a debit card purchase. I've done it in the past. My bank was very responsive. All I had to do was fill out a form stating what measures I'd taken to try to resolve it without a dispute. They refunded the money quickly. In the end, the seller finally responded (had been on "vacation" for two weeks) and refunded my money.

Beautiful

Also OP, call your bank and see if you can dispute the charges even though you used a debit card.

Do you not have a credit card, is that it?

The OP should have the same protections since it was run through the VISA system as a credit card. Had it been a B&M store and he used his PIN number then it would be run through the banks system (some banks offer additonal services for fraudulent charges and such).

Visa will offer some protections.. OP give them a call.

It seems not. I think he found out why not to take the average ATOT grunt's advice about debit card disputes, though.

go to kinkos and use the paper slicer and trim a few centimeters off so it fits; noone will ever notice.

Have your fiancee talk to her in a calm manner, maybe she will be more forgiving then. If that doesn't work, make sure she knows you will tell of this experience everywhere you can including message boards (like theknot.com) - she is the business owner and should know what's bad for business. The wedding industry works by word of mouth. There are ways you can get your story out without it being direct slander and it will have the same affect against her.

Good luck with getting it corrected though.

Do you have insurance for your car? Why, are you EXPECTING to get into an accident?
Do you carry health insurance? Why, are you EXPECTING to get sick?

YOUR BAD for using a Debit card and YOUR BAD using a company without doing any homework/background checking/testimonials first.

Between the guy who paid CASH for a locksmith who ripped him off and you, there will be plenty of competition for ownage of the day.

Good luck with your invites. I hope you are wiser in the future.

Your situation proves this statement false. Using credit card adds a layer of protection when buying shit, adds to your credit score, and if you have a decent card you can even get cashback on ALL YOUR PURCHASES INCLUDING BILLS. why not use a credit card? i'd still take it up w/ the BBB and start some bad press on these people.

actually, if it's a Visa debit card, you still may have some protections on your side. give your bank a call and speak to the manager

Agreed. We got our invitations about a month late due to errors printing, and some had been cut with a bit of overlap. I just trimmed them off, who even cares, at your wedding they are all going to be wooing over you guys and not your invites. Just leave a bad review about your experience and how they handled you, make your case to BBB, though if they aren't a member it really won't matter, and move on. Just don't start your marriage off all worried about a piece of paper, trust me you will deal with crap like this MANY MORE TIMES after the vows are exchanged.

BAHHAHAHAAA...I thought I was the only one that did that! Someone took a picture of a big dump with "Thanks for the food!" written on a napkin at our wedding.

I don't know about that. It's still a debit card - just run through as a credit transaction (but the money is pretty much removed right away or within a day or two).

AFAIK, it isn't the transaction handling company that offers the protections by law, it is the issuing bank.

Look at your debit card real close. Does it have that Visa or Mastercard logo?

Guess what. You get most of the protections offered to a credit card.

Send the shit back certified and do a chargeback at your bank if your that pissed about it.
