I missed 2, didn't know the Fed chair, and I wanted to say Netanyahu, but for some reason thought he was in an advisory position now and not PM.

I must read too many of Dave's threads. I thought the poverty % was 25% as well

Meh, 10/12. I am the 4%.

I missed the poverty line question and the unemployment question. I guessed too high on both.

I got 9 out of 12 right the unemployment rate is doctored and fudged anyway.

I should know as I used to work at the DOL and dated The #3 person there who computed all the revised unemployment numbers there.

You answered 12 of 12 questions correctly.

You scored better than 99% of the public and the same as 1%.

The only one I sorta guessed on was the Americans living under the poverty line question.
lol That was me exactly, educated guess on that one giving me 12 for 12.

12/12, but Iran was a lucky guess. Could easily have gone with Saudi Arabia, the only reason I chose Iran is because I remember reading about sectarian issues in that country, so I figured it was the more likely subject of a question about sectarian breakdown.

So to guess the country with a shia majority you would have went with one of the most sunni countries in the world right now?

according to Pew's news IQ. Despite "cutting the cord" 3 months ago I apparently know more about what's going on in the world than the great majority of [USA] people.
Careful, this is a rather domestic US centric quiz.

10/12.... failing to know the current chair of the Federal Reserve Board and which of the activities the US spends the most upon.

Only a few questions concerned international events, and of those, they have been rather plastered in the US media.

Shudder to think so many are so out of touch.

You answered 12 of 12 questions correctly.

I bet those out of touch people will be able to tell you exactly what's going on with Bradjelena and they can distinguish songs performed by Miley Cyrus from those of Avril Levigne.

You scored better than 69% of the public, below 22% and the same as 9%.
Not bad for being 15 I guess? I misclicked the unemployment rate though. Ah well.

Exactly.

I got every international question right and some of the domestic and economic questions right but got a few wrong like the percent of unemployment wrong and the minimum wage. I think the minimum wage for Minnesota is more than the national minimum wage which is probably why I thought it was $10.50 or so.

Yeah that's the only one I missed as well. Thought it was higher. It seems like the actual percentage isn't something I ever hear reported on.

I missed that one as well. I chose 25%, but looking back, that choice was too high.

I was surprised that only 50% of people 18-29 knew Ukraine was once part of the soviet union. What the hell?

Do you really think keeping up with the news is the smart thing to do? I have friends who refuse to watch the news. I would have to agree with them. There have been studies done that show when people watch or read about current events in the morning they are most likely to be sad for the remainder of the day. There is nothing that a news station could say that would make my life better. All you end up hearing about is violence, plane crashes, and Ebola. If I didn't read about these events I doubt that I'd miss anything. In fact, I would be better off. When we watch the news daily we end up being scared. ISIS is not coming after you, Ebola will not infect your body, and your next plane ride will not fall into the Indian Ocean.

I like what Tim Ferris has to say about news consumption. In his book, "The 4 Hour Work Week" he states that he doesn't watch or read the news, because he will be expending needless energy on what he has read. He gets his news from friends or colleagues. Most of it is garbage anyway.

I got 9/12.
