Shudder to think so many are so out of touch.

Do you really think keeping up with the news is the smart thing to do? I have friends who refuse to watch the news. I would have to agree with them. There have been studies done that show when people watch or read about current events in the morning they are most likely to be sad for the remainder of the day. There is nothing that a news station could say that would make my life better. All you end up hearing about is violence, plane crashes, and Ebola. If I didn't read about these events I doubt that I'd miss anything. In fact, I would be better off. When we watch the news daily we end up being scared. ISIS is not coming after you, Ebola will not infect your body, and your next plane ride will not fall into the Indian Ocean.
I like what Tim Ferris has to say about news consumption. In his book, "The 4 Hour Work Week" he states that he doesn't watch or read the news, because he will be expending needless energy on what he has read. He gets his news from friends or colleagues. Most of it is garbage anyway.
I got 9/12.
