you would also have about 10k left over which is good

really, i give a 98-99 wrx so much more respect then a new one, most of the 'new' subaru owners just jumped on the bandwagon.

edit: AND WHY THE FVCK DO PEOPLE STILL CARE HOW A CAR LOOKS?!?!? does looks make it drive any faster? thats such a ricer mentality to me. "the evo looks better" "no the sti looks better" grow some taste and like the cars for how the preform and dont hate for how "fugly" you think it is, whats the last car you designed?

That edit you added is truly amazing.
I suppose your girlfriends don't have to be in any way attractive, as long as they can run fast.
Different strokes man...
and for the record... I would never buy the sti/evo. They are ugly as sin econoboxes with ridiculous spoilers. The e46 M3 is all class, and beautiful inside and out.

what do cars have to do with my girlfriends? im sorry if i dont think of women as machines like you do. i KNOW its 'different strokes man' thats why im saying its a MOOT point for people to say "no that cars ugly". on the other hand the preformance of a car is hardline facts; not a subjective view reflecting ones taste.

Uhh... do you have the slightest clue what you're talking about? There are no 98-2000 WRX's or WRX-STi's in the US. The WRX didn't become available for sale in the US until mid-2001 as a 2002 model and the STi not until mid-2003 as a 2004 model.
technicalities....you know i was talking about the 99 impreza
But then you're engine swapping, as Nutbucket pointed out. Sure, it's not much harder than swapping engines in a muscle car era Chevy, but it does add considerably to the cost.

STI owns an M3 by getting those girls that think hooked up civics are great. I mean I guess that's cool cause those girls are pretty dumb and will bang you for your car only...but if that is what you want then go for it.

M3 is all about respect. Everyone wants an M3 and if you have an M3 people will respect you.

Go ahead take it. I'm sure people will be nicely impressed with the luxury it has to offer. Add a turbo on an M3 and your car is owned.

but my point is how big of a preformance difference is there between a my99 and a 2004sti for price/preformance. and will this guy WANT it? will he NEED that extra second. i mean, after all hes asking people on ATOT what car he should get. im just trying to express how i think the gc8 platform is imho better for the price.

so call my on the technicalities, im waiting.

You and Nebor would look good in that car.

if u want to be a ricer, pick the STI! yEAH!@

That ranks with one of the most ignorant things I have heard today  You do understand the STI was meant to be a rally car, right?

I like the cut of your jib!

What I want is going to cost a bundle of money, but basically I'm going for either an STI or possibly something from Infinity.

2011 Frame
Standard length dustcover
Fluted barrel with a bushing
Fitted slide to frame
Stock mag button
Nice stainless finish
Triglide trigger

yea but in united states... do really does use it for rallying? so yea these cars are bought by kids to race, kill and show off.. out of 10wrx i seen driven, i only see 1 of them driven by a proper adult...

I got an STi last year. My thinking was that it's ~5-10k more than a 'normal' car - Accord, Camry etc. I plan on driving it into the ground so, in the long run, 5-10k isn't that much for the enjoyment everyday I get from driving it.

If the styling bothers you, you can swap trunks with a wrx or rs and have a smaller or no wing. You can also get a front mounted intercooler and swap hoods with an rs to elimate the hood scoop.

But I like the aggressive styling. I'll get the M3 when I'm 'old' (26 now).

i think you could say that about every sports car.

First, it's not an extra second in the quarter, it's 2 seconds, stock for stock, mod for mod (until you get REALLY serious). Next, the STi comes stock significantly upgraded compared to an RS in terms of suspension and braking. Then there's the fact that SOA only sold about 10k GC6/GM6's in the USDM during 4 years of production. They are pretty rare, hard to come by, and have relatively high resale values.
A 98-01 RS is a great little car (I know, I own one), but from a performance perspective is on par with like a VW GTI or an Integra (except the RS has better handling than those). OTOH, the STi is a performance freakin beast. Now, with a lot of modding and an engine swap, an RS can be made into that same performance beast (that's what a "GC8" really is, an EDM WRX sedan pre-01), but by that time you'll have spent quite a bit of money. Probably almost as much as buying an STi in the first place, and that would defeat the purpose IMO (except to have a VERY cool little car).

Based on what little you've told us about yourself here, it would be a bad buy, but then that's never stopped millions of other people spending money they shouldn't on frivolous luxury items, so all the power to you!

it really depends on a lot of things for one 45K if he is living at home is certainly managable to afford a used M3 though at 33-35K that is certainly a lot of money

on his own though that would certainly be undoable unless he is able to finance it over

4-5 years which would be insane because the interest rate on the used car is going to be awful off financially

if he is not married and living at home, and young i would say go for it because it is probably something he is dreaming of owning

if not though it would be very bad move

When my residency starts the 45k is hopefully what I will make. Living with my fiance who makes more than me and pays all my bills. No income yet, just something I am hoping of having. More than likely I will end up with a new G35 coupe but if I can afford the M3 I will go for it no doubt.
