I'm thinking about buying an STI

I've got a sizable insurance settlement coming in and I'm debating whether I should spend the whole damn thing on one thing I've been itching for a while or bank it.

All are free to comment without fear of being flamed!

The smart thing to do would be to put it into the bank. Seriously, 30k could turn into quite a bit by retirement assuming you're in your teens/early 20s.

Of course, I'd be very tempted to get the STi, too.

STI = Sexually Transmitted Infection

Re-read your thread title, it's much funnier this way.

it all depends on how much you are making now....whether you are single/married/married with children...whether you care about getting hit with the depreciation of buying a new car....

If it's not going to put you in financial hardship, go for it. I test drove one a month ago and came away very impressed. The shifter I thought was pretty sloppy (long throws and not very tight, unlike my 2003 350Z), but the power and handling was definitely there.

Or you can get the more "family car" version = legacy

Seriously though, if I were you, I'd take that money either into the bank or to some long term investment. It'll do you good.

Put it in the bank and get something more practical if you need a car. Maybe a normal WRX?

Like someone said before, depends where you are in life ... Me, I'd use the $33k and put it towards a house with some property ... then buy a dirt bike for my speed kicks.

Get what you want now while you can....before expenses build up on you, family situations change, etc...

I'll be having my midlife crisis at 20 sometime next week.

This is something I've been itching to get, I'd only be running it twice or so a month + I'd need all the requsite accessories to go with it so thats more money I'd be spending.

Damn, decisions decisions.

I think the Evo would be a better choice then. It's less expensive and has an aftermarket that is much larger than the STi's.

If you wouldn't mind something just a tad slower but has an awesome growel to the exhaust and has luxury like interior....then try the VW R32.

Yeah, spend all your money now so that when you are broke and can't afford anything you can look back with fondness upon the cause of your misery....
