BUT STILL! It crashes at least every hour. I can't download the latest version of the beta w/o uninstalling what i have for some reason. Ive really tried hard to see the appeal of Firefox, because of how much people rave about it, but I have to be honest with myself. It sucks. Im gonna give opera a try, and if thats no good Im going back to good ol' IE.

You are an idiot. You should defuinitly go back to those stable Microsoft products.

2. Opera is slow (it's one of the fastest, if not the fastest)
3. Opera has ads (not anymore)

1. It's hard for anything to live up to the hype that FF has generated. But after all is said and done it is just a internet browser. But you are right, I missed some of FF's small details enough to want to decide to give it another go. (In opera the shortcut to open a new tab is ctrl+shift+n... wtf, for such a common task I need the quick ctrl+t from ff)

2. At the moment I had posted that, I had played with Opera for all of 30 seconds... my bad, I still say it loads the pages a little slower than FF.

3. I was reffering to adds on the websites (banners and various things) which may have been cause for the seemingly slower loading. No adds in the opera shell

and by the way
:Q I didn't know getting frustrated at a program crash made you an idiot these days :disgust:

ya well, opera was pretty good, but there are too many little details about FF that I'm beggining to miss, so im giving FF another go... again

if you enable mouse gestures in the opera preferences, you can open a new tab in the background with just a middle click on any link.

you can also remap the keyboard shortcuts. so you could change it so ctrl-n opens a new tab. there is also a "new page" button, usually to the left of the tabs, which you just have to click on to open a new page. so that is three different ways to open a new page. there's probably about half a dozen more ways as well. opera gives you amazing flexibility, without having to add on a zillion plug ins. but I suppose you have to spend some time investigating how it all works, in the preferences, to get full control over the program and set it up just how you like it.

ps: hope I don't sound too much like an opera fan boi..

Tools --> Preferences --> Advanced --> Shortcuts --> (bottom) Edit... --> Application --> New Page --> Edit --> <define keys>

Uh, isn't the links toolbar in IE the same thing as the bookmars toolbar in FF?

I tried opera and it has the worst toolbar customization ever. Just let us move the bars/buttons wherever the hell we want, like in FF or IE. I want to have my nav buttons, menus, address bar, google bar all on the same line, then the bookmarks toolbar on the line below it. Not possible in Opera.

If you know all the tweaks in FF (enable pipelineing and increase max connections), it's the fastest browser out there. Only exception is Opera is has a faster back button, but that will change when FF 1.5 is released.

Suggest you update to 1.0.7. Security update.

Maybe I'm just a creature of habit, but I like Internet Explorer. Also, the new IE7 is fantastic. one of my favorite features is the...drum roll please...TABS. I just like the way it feels...I never really felt comfortable in firefox. Perhaps I should give opera a try.

Opera is awesome IMHO,very fast and very stable,as to Firefox, if you must use it then I would recomend you stick with latest official version, try and stay away from beta versions period, they are beta for a reason.
