I usually leave them open unless I get one from nholtrop in which case I send a kind reply, close the window immediately, throw my monitor across the room and curse at it's sparking remains.

in linux Gaim has it's own desktop, so they just stay open on Desktop 4 and it doesn't get too cluttered
