Since I have a nice big CRT already I wasn't planning on getting a new monitor, let alone an LCD for my computer build, but this has got me thinking a little. Is it really that good for gaming? And I keep seeing the price drop on it too so if I wait on it do you think it could keep going down by say.. this summer? Also, a poster some pages back said he was able to return his to TigerDirect with 4 dead pixels, arn't they affiliated with Newegg who only accepts returns for 8 or more dead?

Yes, it IS that good for gaming. I've been completely satisfied with that aspect. TD and egg are different companies. Maybe you're thinking of ChiefValue, and Newegg... those guys are the same company.

Yeah! Thanks so much for this tip. I cancelled my Newegg order made late Friday. Lucky I ordered so late. Saved $45 by doing that and ordering at ebuyer.com. It said there that my order is complete and that an email confirmation had gone out but I don't see it 10-15 minutes later. Weird.

Edit: My order seems to be proceeding in their system, but I still haven't gotten a confirmation email. I left them an "enote" in there system asking why. In that system it says they'll answer my note (they don't say how, whether it's at their site or by email) within 4 business hours and it states their business hours - MST. Now, PST is Pacific Standard Time. I assume they are "Mountain" time? Where are they, anybody know?

Just picked one up too, too sweet to pass up especially since the price jumped $20 overnight (went back down though). They seem to have great service but had some trouble getting my damn zip code right because the stupid thing would add the digits 2625 at the end of it for no reason at all. Can't wait to game on this thing.

depends, are they anything like their cars?

Umm...take a look at Hyundai's quality of ownership and reliability records dude, I think maybe then you would want to take back your dig at their cars.

dude, i think it's interesting you took that as a negative comment

Uh I'm not the only one who did in here, maybe you should be a little more clear on what you are trying to say.

Ebuyer did respond quickly to my enote asking what happened to my confirmation email. They don't know. They think that it was maybe my spam trapping software, conceivable but not likely. In any case, the order is proceeding and it shipped already UPS Ground, free shipping, from Tempe, AZ. I guess it's OK. I know that Newegg has far better Resellerratings, but Newegg says they're only honoring 8 or 8+ dead pixel problems, the same as Hyundai, so I don't know that it matters. I figure I'll take my chances with Hyundai's warranty and save some money over what it would have cost me through Newegg.

Picked one up last evening from newegg at $369.99 and this morning it went up $20 plus $10 shipping - I still see it at $389 + $10 Shipping. This would be my first LCD - in fact, first new computer-related purchase in over a year. It's already shipped - hopefully, I'll get to set this up when I move my library upstairs this weekend. Thanks for the deal

Mine should be delivered tomorrow from ebuyer. I buy most of my stuff from Newegg but the price difference, tax issue and shipping cost make me realize it was a no brainer to leave them for this purchase. Oh well. I'll let you all know how it goes on Day of Defeat.

Since this is good for gaming, is this also good if used for image editing task and video editing monitor. I'm still looking for one monitor to do it all.

forkd, we are in the same boat. If we spring a leak, it's time to bail! Just kidding. I get mine tomorrow, too. We can compare notes. Here's hoping for no dead pixels, I guess that's the fingers crossed one. I'm disillusioned with Newegg since hearing (Quine says earlier in this thread) that they edit the customer reviews to the degree where they won't show negative reviews. That's bad sauce.

My son got in on this deal when it was $340 from CrapUSA. I've used this monitor and it is NICE!!! We're playing the following games, BF 1942 w/ DC mod, MOHAA, HL2 and they all run extremely well on this monitor. I'm going to get one soon myself. I currently have a Viewsonic CRT and this monitor definately perfomrs as well as that one.

I played Day of Defeat tonight for about 2 hours and it rocks. I just kind of with that it came with a bigger box since I paid almost $400 for it ...... If I paid that much for bubble wrap it would have had a huge box

btw....no dead pixels

I really like the fact that this came with the DVI cable, VGA cable, and power cable. Also came with a cd, the manual and what not.

I just got mine from ebuyer.com via UPS Ground. There's no manual in mine, just the Quickstart Guide, CD, warranty card, cables, the base and the LCD display. Was there supposed to be a manual?

Edit: Ah, OK, I called them and was informed it's on the CD. Slipped my mind... I did notice that, but it slipped my mind. Well, time to fire up the printer, I guess....

The manual is a PDF on the CD. Pretty basic, but useful enough.

Yeah, I thought of making a backup of the CD, but it's not necessary. It has manuals for dozens of Hyundai products and the only thing of any possible use to me is the English version of the manual (around 700 kb) and a tiny directory that has the driver. I copied those to my HD.

Question: Does anyone use the driver? I'm multibooting Win2000, Win98SE, and I even have a partition that boots to WinNT 4.0.

Another question: I've seen some posts where people refer to possible backlight issues. What exactly is that?

Well, my first impression is a major disappointment. There seems to be something wrong with the display. It was apparent from the start by viewing my Windows 2000 desktop, which in my case is the default desktop. The metallic blue background is sort of smudged. The best way I can describe it is that it looks as though it were made out of metal foil and that the foil had been warped so that it's no longer flat. Three or four smallish areas around the size of a half-dollar are definitely darker than the sourounding area, and of course, it should be uniform. I don't have time at the moment, but by tomorrow morning I'll try to link a JPG or two in this thread to show what it looks like. I guess I can request a replacement from Hyundai? It looks pretty bad.

I've been looking forward to ordering this monitor all week, but when it comes time to push the button tomorrow I may have some reservations... Thoughts on whether or not this is still a good buy? Seems to be hit and miss now

Got mine from CompUSA and I absolutely love it. I have been playing plenty of HL2, CS:S, and Painkiller on it.. I definately do NOT miss my old 20" Trinitron.. I love this Hyundai.. I endorse it completely.

Dad bought one too and he is also thrilled with it, no QC issues with either of our 2 displays.
