Imagine? Hell, no need to imagine it. Look at the state level. My state, Alabama, is a state such that the GOP has a super-majority in both legislative houses, the entirety of the state supreme court, and the governor's office. To make matters worse, there is not one single Democrat or Independent that holds ANY statewide office in this state.

I do love my state, but if you want to know what Republican rule in the US would look like, look to us. Its pretty scary down here, policy-wise. We are constantly 49th or 50th in many state rankings. Its gotten so bad that our unofficial state motto has become "Thank God for Mississippi".
