Your "imagination" is firmly rooted in the 1700s. Hooray for child labor, infant mortality, and no indoor plumbing! If only you, yourself would go back and then stay there.

Some of your greatest leaders were people who should of not been qualified for the job.

Look at Andrew Jackson. Ignored a supreme court decision, trail of tears, but defended new orleans and kicked the Spaniards out of Florida. How would the war of 1812 ended if Jackson had not called up the militia and defended New Orleans?

We need a president who is not afraid to piss people off and hurt feelings. Those are the men who make great leaders. Great leaders get things done, regardless of the fallout.

What did congress tell Jefferson after he bought Louisiana?

They said you did not have the authority to spend the money.

Jefferson said so what.

We need a leader who is going to kick ass and not even bother to take names. End free trade, reform tax code, deal with china,,,, etc.

Hillary and obama are afraid to piss people off. That is what needs to be done to get real change done.

Imagine a surveyor who grew his own weed, made his own whiskey, and owned slaves running for president.

Imagine TH desperately not looking at the double standard between Donald & Hillary.

Had she pulled half the shit he has she sure as Hell wouldn't be the Democratic nominee.

But Donny? Why, he's just an excitable boy. He'll settle down & be just peachy as Prez, right?

Force china into fair trade deals.

Force companies to build factories here.

Funny, considering that it ended prior to the battle of New Orleans. And famously so. But I'm sure I'm not the first one to point this out to you by now.

Always odd to me why people who obviously don't care about facts try to use phrases that sound like facts all the time.

Battle of New Orleans - January 8–18, 1815 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_New_Orleans

War of 1812 - June 18, 1812 – February 18, 1815 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_1812

Please explain how calendars work in your reality. I thought January was before February

"These repulses led Britain to drop demands for a native buffer state and some territorial claims, and peace was finally signed in December 1814, although news failed to arrive before the British suffered a major defeat at New Orleans in January 1815."

There's no need to keep advertising that you're a poor reader, too.

Funny how you manage to mangle history to create your own facts.

Jefferson's Secretary of State, James Madison (the "Father of the Constitution"), assured Jefferson that the Louisiana Purchase was well within even the strictest interpretation of the Constitution. Treasury Secretary Albert Gallatin added that since the power to negotiate treaties was specifically granted to the president, the only way extending the country's territory by treaty could not be a presidential power would be if it were specifically excluded by the Constitution (which it was not). Jefferson, as a strict constructionist, was right to be concerned about staying within the bounds of the Constitution, but felt the power of these arguments and was willing to "acquiesce with satisfaction" if the Congress approved the treaty.[25]

The Senate quickly ratified the treaty, and the House, with equal alacrity, authorized the required funding, as the Constitution specifies.[26][27]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louisiana_Purchase#Domestic_opposition_and_constitutionality

Beyond that, you obviously suggest that the Donald assume dictatorial powers in direct contravention of the Constitution which is a bullshit position for anybody.

The treaty of Ghent was signed on December 24, 1814 you numbskull. That ended the war. Pretty much the only thing that the most casual student knows about the war of 1812 is that the Battle of New Orleans occurred after the war officially ended.

It's in your own link, dummy

The Treaty of Ghent was signed on December 24, 1814 (but was not ratified by the US Government until February 1815), and hostilities continued without the involved parties knowing about the Treaty,[14] until January 18 when all of the British forces had retreated, finally putting an end to the Battle of New Orleans.[15][16][17]

Let me guess--none of this matter to you. But you're kinda right about one thing that in no way applies to the topic at hand: Andrew Jackson was a piece of shit and an awful president. Trump would make him look like Lincoln, though.

Really?

That is not how things work here. Congress had to ratify the treaty.

Sign everything you want. Nothing is final until congress ratifies it.

This is called a republic for a reason.

About the same as it actually did given that the battle took place about 2 weeks *after* the war had ended.

Already been debated. The war was not officially over until congress ratified the treaty.

Get over it, yall are wrong. The war was not officially over until a month after the battle of new orleans.

But either way, we need leaders who are not afraid to kick ass and hurt feelings. Hillary will not get the job done.

Dude, you're wrong. The official end of the war is considered to be the date the treaty was signed. Sorry, you don't get to rewrite history. You were wrong, accept it and move on (the story of a large part of your life I suspect).

Hostilities ceased when British forces got word of the treaty on Feb 13, 1815 & withdrew from a siege of Mobile to their base in the indies. It's not like Andy J chased after them, either. Congressional approval was moot.

And yes, this is a Republic, meaning Trump can't do unilaterally what you want him to do in any case no matter how much e-peen waving there is.

History websites disagree with you.

The ratification of the Treaty of Ghent on February 17, 1815, ended the war

Go argue with history.com, wikipedia, Britannica.com,,,, etc . They all say you are wrong.

Not having a political past is the very reason why many people are voting for Trump. They did the same for Obama 8 years ago.

Obama promised this and that. He promised many things and he didn't deliver. Trump is going to be the same if he's president. Then we will have a new candidate abd it will be the same.

Rinse and repeat.
Rinse and repeat.
Rinse and repeat.

I got into an argument with my brother. Asked him how much his big screen TV cost. Then I asked him how many books has He read on finances, health, wealth, and so on. He loves to bitch about the politicans but will not take responsibility for his own life.

You guys are arguing semantics. I an sure to the soldiers who fought in the Battle of New Orleans, the war still felt very much ongoing.

Regardless, the topic on the table is whether or not America needs a more aggressive and decisive President like Andrew Jackson. Neither Clinton nor Trump strike me as a Jackson.

The difference, trump is not afraid to piss wall street and various organizations off.

obama is more worried about boys having access to the girls room than fixing overseas tax havens.

If obama would have addressed companies like exxon, facebook, apple, microsoft,,, hiding profits and avoiding taxes, he could have paid for a lot of the programs he promised.

But oh nooooo, obama is too worried about pissing off wall street.

While Trump is no Jackson, he is a jackass so there's that. Maybe that's why his supporters like him, they're confusing the two...

If Trump & the Repubs have their way, they won't need offshore tax havens because America's wealthiest won't be paying enough in taxes to matter.

It's rather clear that the war would've end no matter what happened in new orleans, so this is really a matter of how much of a dumbshit you want to appear.

The very idea that someone with the competence of trump is going to "fix" the den of killers on wall st. is laughable except maybe to complete rubes who've never held a meaningful job.
