Imaging RAID0

Basically I want to destroy my RAID0 array as I want to install a new hardware. Everytime I turn my LAN enable, my hdd is not detected. So the only way I can think of is imaging my hdd, enable my LAN, re-do my array and re load my image. The question is, has anyone tried this? I mean imaging from RAID and installing back as well? What image software are you using?

Thanks in advance.

I create an image of my RAID 0 daily using Drive Image. I have not had to restore from that image, although my research on it indicates that it should work. The Drive Image disk is bootable and prompts for third party drivers same as an XP disk so I believe it will work.

I've got to believe that if I can image from the array that I can restore to the array.

Wish I could give you a definitive answer.

By hardware, I assume a different RAID card? If so, you had better install that card first and get the drivers installed before you proceed. It will be difficult, if not impossible to boot off that "new" array when your OS does not fully support the card. I believe you may have other issues with this as well that I, myself cannot forsee. I would proceed with caution and cover yourself with backups of your data.

I don't understand this LAN situation either.

Thanks for the info.

Basically I disable my mobo's LAN when I installed my RAID0 via Promise because at the time I did not think I would need to use it. Now I do and when I go into the BIOS and enable my LAN and reboots again, it would say no hard drive found. If I disable the LAN again then it would boot properly.

How much is the compression rate for Drive Image? I have about 46GB that I need to image. Even after compression, I would still think that it would require a lot of space.

The average compression rates are;

Standard - 40%
Medium - 45%
High - 50%

Good luck with your quest!
