A lot of these arguments about +R vs. -R are made by biased camps, so the information available is moot. In the past there were more -R drives sold, so more people have TESTED -R media. That's mainly why dvdrhelp shows more players supporting -R. Oh and 2.4x +R (there is no 2x +R) burns in 23-24 mins, not 31-32, just so you know.
I have bought 2 dvd players (for other people) since I have had -R and +R burners (1 Pioneer, 1 HP and 1 Sony), so I went to several stores and tried out +R and -R discs. I did not find any players that played the -R but not +R, and actually a few more played +RW than -RW. This is just a random sample of fairly new DVD players in Circuit City and Best Buy. Not a scientific study, but I trust my own experience over a bunch of people who've already decided which is better (mainly because they only own one type of burner.) Same should go for you, so don't trust my opinion if you have the opportunity go to your local store and try out some discs - Oh yeah, be sure to test with good discs for both types.
Back to the topic, according to DVDRHelp, in the past Imation +R discs were Ricohs (I've had good experiences with these) but many former Ricoh only customers have moved some production to Taiwan, so this is no guarantee that its not a CMC disc.
