Imation 4x cdrw, faster?

I've got Imation cdrw discs 1x-4x compatible.
I just picked up a new drive that can burn rw's at 24x. Can I do something to make the discs burn a little faster? 8x or 6x?
I think the drive is Acer/Benq. It's the 52x packaged in the 48x Digital Research from Best Buy this week.

In nero, I don't have the option to disable smartspeed, smartburn, justburn, or anything like that. Only SuperLink, the burn-proof technology.

no. cdrw is set speed. each type is completely different. never buy 4x cdrw again. 24x is nice. 4x is brain numbing. whats mind numbing is how some packages still claim 4x is fast 4x disc will never burn any higher. neither will a 8-10x disc.

With newer discs you might be able to get a little bit faster burns than the rated speed, but it's probably impossible with older discs like that, they just weren't high enough quality then.

And all those things that you can't disable in Nero, they're all the same thing as SuperLink. That's why you only see SuperLink. Each one shows up depending on the drive brand.

I dont know about 4x discs but i had a few disks rated for 16x and they burned perfectly fine at 52x.

Those were CD-Rs though, you can do that with them, CD-RWs are a different story, anyway, Best Buy has the 16x-24x CD-RWs, 5 for $8.
