IMO, that is too annoying and disjointed to read.

Twitter is terrible place to host a dissection of long speech, with it's tiny bit sized tidbits.

Find a transcript and do you own dissection (I did).

IMO there is little doubt that it's strong incitement speech that hammers the receptive audience, with stolen election that will destroy the country if they don't fight to stop it... It's easy to see how the believers would act on it. In fact it's hard to see how they wouldn't act.

But I still think it would fail to clear the bar for successful criminal prosecution. Trump is a career criminal/conman, and never comes right out and says: "Go beat down the police, storm the building, take hostages and make me President again".

He just tells them massive injustice has been done, that will destroy the country, if they don't act now. If you actually believe his lies, then it makes sense to act, to save the country from this injustice. His audience just believes all his lies at this point, so we got the predictable outcome.

Predictable in the sense that an angry mob would try to get to representatives and stop the confirmation. But you can't actually predict what the angry mob would destroy/achieve once unleashed.
He speaks mob boss rather well.

seems Guido can't be his lawyer for the impeachment because he's a witness to the events of that day and gave his speech

Rudy can just claim whatever Trump said is covered by attorney client privilege since he was present as well.

(Yes I know this is nonsense, just the level of nonsense I have come to expect from Trump world)

Appears that old Moscow Mitch wants to “wash that man right out of his hair”, if you can believe anything Moscow Mitch ever says. For Mitch it’s always a calculation. Planning the odds. Limiting the risks. What Moscow Mitch is now doing has everything to do with 2022 and the senate.

McConnell blames Trump, but also other "powerful people."

As much as I detest McConnell for his ruthless abuse of power he never bought into the stolen election bullshit. He said Trump had the right to pursue it in court, which was true, but when that ran out he promptly endorsed Biden as President Elect. He pleaded with his caucus not to object on the 6th. he led them to shut down Cruz's & Hawley's bullshit. His most recent comments about the insurrection are entirely consistent with that.

Bolded in quote for emphasis. I think he was smart enough to realize that once the courts shot down their 0 evidence, it was a fruitless endeavor.
He also doesn't have to stress about getting primaried for his seat in his home state of Kentucky. Bunch of chickenfuckers down there.

Anywho. Somebody needs to throw McConnell's Sith-ass down a vertical weather tunnel.
100%
fuck him.

I think he realized it was pointless all along but he had to let Trump run with it until Trump had no legal recourse. Overturning the election in at least 3 states never was going to happen & Mitch knew it all along.

McConnell is the one that feeds people bullshit, he doesn't partake of it himself. McConnell knew from the very start that it had little chance of succeeding, and that any chance it had was in the courts. Once that boat had sailed he could see clearly who the winning side was going to be, so no need to suck up to the loser. McConnell was never a sycophant, he has always been playing the long game and that is why he is probably the most dangerous person in the world.

If Mitch finds his balls and manages to give Trump supporters the finger through a successful impeachment, well at least there's that. I can give him a clap for it - all the while wishing he'd slither back from whence he came.

He acknowledged the President-elect about a month after the election was called by media outlets? Yeah, guess we should pat Mitch on the back for that one...

My brother in law is from Kentucky (his family is still there). I'm not exactly sure of his opinion on McConnell but my guess is he's not a fan..

The COL is very affordable, the climate in good for my MS, and we have family here also.

While dyed-in-the-wool repugs dominate state and local politics the tide is slowly changing.
