No retention of what just happened.Many senate republicans that will vote to acquit simply brush off any suggestion that Trump would run in 2024 or could get elected if he dare tried. Again, it's like they are saying not to bother with impeachment or baring Trump from future office because Trump has learned his lesson and no one would want to go thru another Trump administration anyway. I don't see how they could believe what they are saying. If Trump is not stoped from running in 2024 everyone with a heartbeat knows that Donald Trump will run again in 2024.
