I just received this e-mail from EMS a little while ago:

Dear Valued Customer,

We have received your recent order; however, we will be unable to ship your
product(s) in a timely manner. As a result, we have cancelled your order.
In the unlikely event your credit card was charged, a full refund will be
posted to your account within 3-5 business days. We sincerely apologize
for any inconvienience this may have caused you, and hope we may be able to
better serve you in the futue.

now this makes me very pissed. They listed a price, i ordered it at that price, paid for it. and now, they cancel my order, and of course now the price has gone up about 40 bucks (z-560s - were 122, now about 170 incl shipping)

to me, this is basically baiting & switching.

Methinks they got so swamped with orders due to the "Anandtech Effect" that they had to cancel some of them.

damnit! I received the same email about the altec lansing 641's I ordered a few days ago. Hopefully I will get my money back in a "timely manner" since they already charged my card.

What makes it so bad is that some people were charged already.. and to receive a email like that.. terrible business practice!! I surely hope they will refund us in a "timely manner" but seeing as how this situation went, I doubt it.

When you submit your evaluation don't give them higher than "POOR" on anything-you never got anything, did you?
The segment for pricing is keeping their rating up over 2.

Well, if their inventory system wasn't a good (up to date) on their system, it's pretty easy for the anandtech effect to REALLY make things bad quick. In the case of the 1080B cases, they were being phased out so they can't get any more from Antec. In addition, several readers made comments about "who would plan a major sale in the middle of a big move". Well, personally, and especially if it was a FAR move, I would. Selling the inventory at cost or only slightly above would be much preferable to having to ship/move it. A lot of places do this.

Not saying EMS is a good place to do business with (I didn't), just trying to balance the discussion a bit with a couple of things I saw them getting unreasonably boiled over.

However, charging BEFORE shipping (or making sure you had the inventory and were preparing shipment for said person) IS a no-no.

I got the same email from them today, with the same stupid typo at the end. Yeah, right, like I'm EVER shopping there again.

now this is getting screwy.

i went to ems' website, to check the order number of the order they had cancelled (for reseller ratings).
when i went to the previous shopping carts section, there were three different orders, all for the same item! two were at the free shipping price($122), and one was at the current price($167). not only that, but when i went to order tracking, there was a fourth order, with a different order number than the other three, for $122. what the hell is goin on?


i suggest all of you check their website to make sure they didn't make any bogus charges on you - and check your cc.

When I went there on Friday their office was in an area of suites next to doctors' offices and small businesses. They were moving out when I went inside. All of their orders are evidently done by drop shipping through warehouses around the country. I got the cancellation e-mail as well (in my Yahoo junk mail folder, ironically). I don't know why they ran the shipping promotion in the middle of moving, but the company seriously needs to pull their sh!t together.

i also received that email.....i'm pretty pissed off right now...i better get credited soon, as well, since they took the money from my checking account, and i have bills to pay.

anyways, i think everyone here should register at resellerrating and hammer their rating. companies can't get away with this.

Wierd. If they do indeed drop ship everything from warehouses, that sorta knocks out the idea of ridding inventory before a move.

I got the same mail on my speakers and I'm pissed myself.

I left a nice message at ResellerRatings, to say I'm not happy is an understatement. Their ratings in now 4.93 as of this posting.

This company has issues. I tried to order something in June and they had this same problem. Back then their rating was around 6.5. I ordered something and about 2 weeks later I called them to cancel my order because it had not even shipped. If you look at the older reviews on resellerratings, like May and before, their ratings aren't so bad. It seems like this company is falling apart.

IIRC, a corporation is not permitted to charge your card until the order has shipped..was I misinformed? If I am correct, email me (cdtlee84@bellsouth.net) your cancelled order(s)..if someone can get me EMS's new address, I'll do my best to go down there, printouts in hand. Maybe they'll give me a runaround, maybe it'll let them know that some people actually care about service...who knows. It's worth a shot, anyways.
