lol, I was going to say "Wheres the utah tea pot" but its in there...

lol. It's not actually that post, I modelled it.Can't remember if I added that as an homage to the famous Utah pot or not. Because we actually do have a teapot in the kitchen.

Very impressive, yet annoying in the beginning. Constantly changing the depth of field (where it's focused) almost had me turn it off after about 3 minutes. Glad I watched all of it though. edit: Holy Shit! I made that post just before the 7 minute mark - it gets more and more impressive as it goes.
Things that were impressive but didn't seem real: the way the paper tumbled, the jet's exhaust, the way the limbs moved in the wind (last scene with trees.)

He should upload his 3dsmax source file to prove that it is really done in CGI.
If it is - it was very, very impressive.

Here is the link to the compositing breakdown, shows random scenes from base to finish.

Pretty but, too clean. What's the CGI version of a Foley man? I know Foley relates to sound but, I was referring to visual noise. Somebody responsible for dirt and grime. The rust on the railing/fence looked part of the texture tile as did the grime on the windmills. Hell even the plants looked too orderly. Maybe just lack of randomness. Good work, just not as good as it could have been. From a film standpoint, there was no story.

While the work is good, the directing is bad. Way too long to make the point.
I've seen a lot of demo reels like this where the artist tries to be too dramatic. That usually results in people fast forwarding through the reel.

If it is on screen for longer than 3 seconds it needs to be making a point or interacting with something, once the viewer starts to think of what he is viewing as a separate object from the scene, you lose immersion.

Yeah it turns out the only parts I was really impressed with, weren't CGI after all. 7/10.

But seriously. Does not compute. How can one guy come up with that??? Ive done some amateur modelling and the time that it takes to come up with crap is crazy...

Well you can buy pre-made models so he didn't have to do all the modelling himself. Secondly, some people have a lot of time on their hands.
