In 13 hours I'm sitting the hardest exam of my life....

I have lined up a relatively easy final semester before I graduate (Advanced OO design, Computer Graphics, Distributed Computing plus my capstone project). I have two exams left in this semester and tomorrow morning is the really tough one - AI and Algorithms. I have worked my ass off for the past couple of weeks preparing. After this it's relatively smooth sailing.

I did better than expected. A B+ in my ridiculously hard exam and A+ in my others.

This is the strategy I have always used and it has never let me down before. I'll be up until around 2am finishing my prep, up at 7am, megadose some caffeine and sit my exam.

The AI we are learning isn't really what is used in games for the most part. Game AI is generally much simpler. It's used in stuff like computer vision/image recognition, voice recognition, etc. And also very complex business logic. Most game developers wouldn't go anywhere near neural networks, rule engines, etc (there are exceptions).

I loved capstone. I never had so much fun competing with other class mates. I treated it like a game, and I rocked it.

I'm a little jealous. My AI class didn't quite get to neural nets and such. We just got through search heuristics and Bayesian networks. I also wish I had been able to take a Distributed computing class, got a Parallel Programming class, which I loved, but Distributed would have been a lot of fun too. But then I guess that's why I couldn't help myself but to go back for grad school this fall (online classes for a while) even though I just graduated in May and already have a job. Good luck on your finals.

I love working with AI . Currently working with someone on a side project of developing AI for an autonomous vehicle that is somewhat aware of itself and considers things like self preservation in making decisions.

Don't discount game AI either. There are some very good books on AI in games and what is possible. It wasn't practical to do lots of AI in games in the past but now with multicore cpu it is getting pretty interesting to the point some are having to dumb it down so it remains playable for humans.
