You gotta be talking about the Dicks at...(ummm) 3rd and Division...Grew up on the lower south hill. Used to be a Friday nite/Saturday nite cruising stop...Haven't been there in 20 years, but drove by it last summer, and it's still as busy as ever. Started out as a Panda, waaaaay back in the early 60's...Zip's used to make a great greasy burger as well. Our favorite was Ron's...Pines and E. Sprague.
Living in Kahleeforneeya, I've grown to like I&O, especially when compared to most of the other burger joints. Only one I like as well/better, is Carl's Jr. Their $6 burger menu is great.
Zip's... mmm.... the best thing at Zip's are their fries because they're accordion style, and their tartar sauce is also delicious. A tub o' fries and a couple of Belly Busters or Papa Joes and I'm good to go!
Used to eat at Ron's a lot, too. We'd hit it up when we'd visit the White Elephant out there. They had really good shakes, as I recall.
Damn, now I'm hungry...
Ok, you former Spokanites have gotta remember Long Horn BBQ, as well.
But back in the day, cruising Riverside and hitting Dick's at about midnite, was the thing to do.
I was an Lewis & Clark guy, met my wife at Expo 74...she was a Central Valley girl...
My in-laws were friends with (I think) one of the brothers who owned the original LongHorn...GREAT food...
Now How about Taco Time? SOOOO Much better than Taco Smell...
My step father was president of the corporation that owned all the Taco Times in Spokane, except for one, which was owned by a dentist friend of his.
BTW, I went to Lewis & Clark my freshman and sophmore year, then Ferris.
