CPA, a very noble thing to do. I would do the same for family only.
good luck to you and the boy. what condition does he have?
It's called kidney dysplasia. Docs don't have a clue how it happened, but most likely he was born with it. One kidney was about the right size but had a lot of benign cysts on it, plus was getting hit with bladder reflux (urine was coming back into the kidney = not good), the other kidney, when they finally found it on the ultrasound was the size of a peanut. They functioned okay up until he was about 7, that's when we discovered it through a blood test for an unrelated issue. Go figure.
He had the bigger one removed a couple weeks ago and we hoped he would be fine, but we had to put him on dialysis over the weekend. Needless to say, two tubes coming out of the neck is not the favorite thing for a 10 year old. Both the tubes and other kidney will be coming out next Tuesday.
