I've yet to find a pair of Sketchers that weren't horrible in fit.

Clarks, on the other hand, sinfully comfortable.

I don't wear shoes like that. All of my shoes must be able to run in, bicycle in, or play basketball in. So I have running shoes, bicycling shoes, and my basketball shoes. I don't see a need for dress or casual shoes.

He was alluding to nerds buying their clothes at Walmart or something more of that nature. It's not even terribly relevant today as even at Walmart, a half-decent pair of shoes is $30-40 or more.

And yeah, there are probably a few with a collection of Bruno Maglis or some other over-priced Italian shit. Or whatever is considered 'cool' and/or declares that you have money to burn these days.

And yeah again, most of Sketchers shoes come in multiple color schemes. The ones I referred to have three on the same page, but there are also different 'models' that are just minor variations. I like that when you find a certain shoe that you really like the build of, you've got a bit of aestetic choice. I chose to have blue on mine 'cause why the fuck not? They're not for completing the perfect fashion statement; they're sneakers. And while I don't typically wear 'loud' shoes, I like ones with a bit going on. I'll save my solid brown sneakers for when I have to wear a suit. ;P

I get my boots from a local place, ZZ boots, excellent customer service. I wore Sketchers a long time ago and remember them fondly kicking around my local high school. I would be more than willing to try them out again, except that I need durable footwear that withstands concrete dust, construction debris, and the occasional water dousing.

I have never picked up any footwear because of how it looked, I am much more concerned with how comfortable my feet will feel after being in them all day.

Was a different thing when my major prerogative was hiking, and I paid dearly for comfortable shoes that were not durable.

Seriously to anyone who does work on their feet and happens to visit this forum, do not cheap out on shoes, it is not worth it.

I've been wearing skechers as my daily wear for a few years now. They make good casual leather shoes. Like this:

Your physical condition has more to do with feet health than shoes. When I was overweight I had foot issues. Lost some weight and all my feet issues disappeared. Now I can wear basically anything as long as they aren't defective and not have any issues.

And that works for you. I have weighed around 170-180 my entire adult life and at 6'4" and I have noticed a huge difference in cheap boots compared to pricier ones. I can deal with the pain of cheaper boots, but I figured why bother, and still echo that mantra to anyone who will listen. There is nothing wrong with being a cheap ass and pinching every penny, but sooner or later, you get what you pay for. I spend 2x as much and use my Klein dikes 4x as much as the harbor freight junk. If I need to drill through a stubborn concrete wall I reach for the Hilti, not Chicago Electric. Hard to put a price on comfortable feet throughout a hard work day. Kind of fun to pull off your boots for the ahh, and others are complaining about their feet hurting.

I used to be big on Merrells but they started pinching pennies here and there, made their shoes more generic and the fit quality and durability have seemed to drop. My last pair of Chameleon stretches lasted 10 years and still almost as comfortable as the day I got them. My last ones are barely 6 months old, the heal is starting to push in and I don't like wearing them more than an hour or two. Plus the "laces" and materials just feel like they'll break down much more quickly. It's all thinner, lower quality than they used to be.

Email or call them.

Trust me on this...Merrell is awesome and a big part of it is their customer service. I won't buy any other brand.

Sketchers suck. I wore them almost exclusively for years before I realize that for a couple extra bucks, my feet can actually be comfortable. Anyone saying Sketchers are awesome has never invested in good shoes.

I hate Sketchers. There are several that look great, but they have no durability at all. They look like ass after a year and end up having to buy another pair. Meanwhile I can go 3+ years with other top-quality brands. Sure, good brands cost more, but I'd rather spend $100 on a better pair of shoes that last 3 years vs. $60 for a pair that only lasts a year.

You poor bastard. You should have did what I have done. Create e a gang and kick their asses. I did that, got detention for two weeks and set the standard for a new rule at my school for no more than 4 to a group. LMFAO!

Oh! I do wear sketchers!

i have wide feet and Sketchers have been the primary brand i have bought for years because they make comfortable shoes that fit my feet. i am currently wearing Merrell however as they also make wide comfortable shoes that are even better built than Sketchers.

either way, DSW ftw

Merrell slip ons

Jungle Mocs are awesome for walking around. I currently rock Boscos for daily wear but Jungle Mocs are great.

Most comfortable 'casual' sneakers I've ever had. Super light, with soft, thin uppers...no freaking plastic or anything to rub through the liner and jab me in the ankle...with overall feel of everything you need and nothing you don't. And the soles are stupid soft. The outer part has a 'give' to it that I have not ever encountered before. Seems like a pretty basic, inexpensive material, but just makes me think 'wow, that's some good modern materials engineering right there.'

Oddly enough, they also have shoes with advertised 'memory foam,' but it's just thick insoles on harder outsole material. On the variety of shoes with this sole (there's a bunch), though, it's like the whole thing is one cohesive material that seems the epitome of a 'memory foam' for your feet.
...

I got a pair of Skechers On-the-Go wingtips with the Resalyte(tm) sole. Yes it's lightweight and flexible but it appears to be cheap-ass foam rubber - slightly toughened - and feels more like slippers than regular shoes. Smells like major cost-cutting to me, giving the consumer less for his dollar.
Plus the upper on these appears to be cheap felt.

Bought these months ago but haven't worn them yet. At least I only spent $50.

They do put out a lot of styles that I like and the price is right.

I used to wear Sketchers almost exclusively. I don't get the hate here, because they make some nice looking shoes. But, the fit and feel wasn't exactly great.

Switched to Keen and have no interest in any other shoe now. Tried Merrell, but didn't like them as much. Keen mostly makes outdoor hiking type shoes, but they have this unique arch that makes it feel like you can 'grab' onto the ground at the front of the arch, which is very comfortable.

In the summer I wear nothing but sandals; I barely made it to a campsite in Sketchers, while it was a breeze going those same six miles in my Keens (and my feet felt great).

I'm surprised to hear that. I've got multiple pairs of various kinds of Merrell shoes and that are durable as hell. I've got one pair of barefoot trail gloves that have literally been beat to hell and besides the expected loss of tread they are still in great shape.

That said I agree with the other posters, Merrell makes a damn fine shoe/sandal. Little pricer but worth the cost.

Sketcher's is the one brand I refuse to wear.

They're the kind of shoes that your grandmother continues to buy for you even though you hate them.

Sketchers were the last pair I liked before my Timberlands. Speaking of, i think my effing feet are still growing because my once fitting Timberland boot feels too tight with socks now. Going sock-less is nice, but my ankle gets irritated after a while.
