In-dash car stereo install question?

I'm about to install an in-dash CD player in my Nissan. I haven't done this in a long time and when I used to do it I just spliced the wires. Isn't there a harness kit that will match the connectors? Any tips on what to get?

You be able to find a harness for your car, and make sure you get the right kind of mounting kit (if u need one) Some Nissan's/Toyotas have Double Din openings, most stereo's are 1 din and a few are 1.5 din. Good luck.

Get the harness! That way when they jack it, they will (hopefully) not rip all your wires out and just disconnect it! (trust me, if they yank, you will be lucky to get your car started - the voice of experience talking...).

Go to www.autotoys.com or your favorite car stereo store and spend the $10-$20 for the correct harness for your vehicle. It'll save you some time and effort and it looks a lot nicer Plus you can do the splicing on the kitchen table vs. out in the hot sun.

What does "double din", "1 din" mean?

Dood.....double din means it takes twice the space as a 1 din cd player....
1 din cd players are a standard size...
double din are usually ones that have cassette and cd...or are just oversized to fill spots on dashes like the huge fords...etc

If you want to be cheap, get some quick disconnects and a crimper. That's what I did with my Alpine.
