this sick fascination with 911 "heroes" is getting out of hand. they are just regular people, and did not get bitten by a radioactive spider. it sucks, but they are no more victims than anyone else who got dealt a crappy hand in life.

most people in here are putting more concern into his dissapearance than they would there own grandmothers demise, its just morbid if you ask me. IMHO of course.

Those that died on 9/11 due to terrorist actions died a death that was "unnecessary" and born out of hate. A car accident is an accident and with cancer, frequently the dying person, at the very least, gets a chance to say "goodbye" (something that few people who died on 9/11 were able to do). That being said, I do agree with you to some extent. When I saw instant hot cocoa with RED WHITE AND BLUE dried marshmallows for sale (I think by Swiss Miss) I wanted to vomit. Okay, so more people want US flags, so the companies make more US flags. BUT, people who invent a need ("A REAL American would only drink cocoa with red white a blue marshmallows") based on a tragedy are disgusting.

My wife and I had just moved into our first home about a week before 9/11 and I had just gotten my computer unpacked and set up around 9/13 (it seemed like an eternity, but what difference did it make, I didn't have any money left to spend on Hot Deals anyway) and I remember the original post looking for NJHawkeye. I had remembered seeing his avatar on all those posts. I had never PMd him or dealt with him directly, but I still felt bad that one of our (much)extended family was lost. That's what makes NJHawkeye different from "all the others" who died on 9/11. He was one of our own. Certainly no better than anyone else who's ever died, but one that we were closer to.

OK, I never knew HawkeyeNJ, but here's some investigative work I did. I went to e-bay and looked up hawkeyeNJ. Turns out this userid exists, activated in Jan. 2001. No transactions.

So I used the ebay utility to e-mail that userid. Although ebay would not display his email, I thought I'd give it a try. Well, it bounced back with this reply:

Morbid? Morbid is people seeking out autopsy photos of Neil Bonnett.

A user by the name of Rivo is the webmaster of idealwiz.com. There are 2 email addresses for her floating around. HawkeyeNJ used to send the scans to her and she would post them under the MitchellTheCSR icon. The icon is still there but it isn't a clickable link. I have email out to her and another user who used to "work with" HwakeyeNJ on the scans.

There is one piece of information that I can pretty much trust, HawkeyeNJ was a vietnam vet who was on Hamburger Hill on May 13, 1969. I have two sources checking on whether or not Bill Cashman was there, on this date, with D company. From prelimenary feedback I suspect he wasn't.

From reading all of the post above, I don't believe HawkeyeNJ was William Cashman. I just think something happened to HawkeyeNJ between August and September 2001. Because his last post was on August 31 and he only had 3 posts in August. But he had 2414 posts between February and July. Therefore, I don't think his disappearance was related to 9/11. He might have a disease around August and September. Or something happened to him or his family. I just hope he still alives even though he don't post his deal anymore. God bless you!

First off regardless of whether HawkeyeNJ was William Cashman or not Cashman was still a hero just like everyone else on that plane. I give out my deepest condolences to the affected families and friends.
Like someone else said in a previous post I just hope that I can be as brave in my actions as they were.

Ok so you're telling me police and firemen that went up the stairs of a burning building to help save others are not heros? Or the poeple that took over their hijacked plane to prevent another target to be hit are not heroes? GIve me a F*CKING break!!! it's A$$holes like you that are turing this world to sh*t.

I can confirm that HawkeyeNJ's first name is Bill. Also, his email address is don4jm@hotmail.com.

He sent me an email once (with a photocopy of a receipt) that he signed "Bill". It is also a part of his email address. Below is a full message header of that email:

The William Cashman who died on the flight had multiple sisters. Bill (we don't know his last name) from here had one.

He might have passed on (which I hope not) but he isn't the person who died on Flight 93.

The fact that Bill mentioned he had a sister does not mean that he had only one sister.

There may possibly be another explanation for the sister issue. This is by all means a guess, yet possible. If I know someone casually who asks me about my family,I have a brother and a sister. If they are good friends and they are interested they'll find I have 2 sisters and a brother. The one I dont know and only met once is a half sister who had a falling out with the family over her choice of husband, and went her own way before I was born. There is no need for me to go into all that unless I really know someone, and since I have no idea what her name is now or where she lives, most of the time I only think of myself as having one sister...

This is from page 5:

Here is a partial quote from Hawkeye from the thread: "... I YELLED OUT "WELL LET ME TELL YOU SIS ! " Her friends: One friend tried 2 get between us. Then in a normal voice I continue. " I can replace the fiberglass and metal get another car. That I can do. But I have only one sis and I can not replace u ! As long as u r fine things r fine with me. Now forget about the car."

is there a way for somebody in NJ to contact William Cashman's family? Even if it's mistaken identity, the family members would understand our desire in sorting this out.

But I have only one sis and I can not replace u !"

I could easiy imagine saying the same thing to my sister under similar circumstances.Although my circumstance is unusual I know that Im not the only one by far who has siblings (often half or step) that they dont know (and many never even met) by choice or as in my case by things that happened they had nothing to do with.Adoption is another possibility.I dont think we can base any conclusions as far as HawkeyeNJ's statement about his sister.
Also obits arent always accurate to the letter and are usually the statement of one family member. We all know newspapers never print mistakes...
