Five Guys > In & Out

No this again. People have said that Five Guys is fine but it's insanely expensive and not worth the huge price increase. I've had it and while it wasn't bad it wasn't that great, plus I can get so much more at In-N-Out for the same price than I can at Five Guys, plus the burgers are much better. The fries at In-N-Out suck though so you guys can have that one.

You can also get a chocolate swirl and neopolitan.

I would just skip ordering two double-doubles and go right for the 4x4. Four pieces of meat and four pieces of cheese. Skipped breakfast one day and didn't eat until 4pm, it was the only thing that would satisfy.

The world can coexist with 5 Guys and an In N Out. I partake in the latter frequently, although sometimes a 5 Guys is a nice change. I hear the Cajun fries are good.

As far as finding a good balance of quality, convenience and cost goes: In-N-Out Burger beats Five Guys Burgers. Add in the fact that they have shakes and stay open late is the clincher. Kudos to Five Guys though for making a pretty damn good burger and for offering free peanuts.

Five Guys is good for the toppings offered, but the burgers themselves at In-N-Out are better.

I have to tell you a Five Guys secret, though. The best thing on the menu is the hot dog.

I agree on the burgers. I don't get the Five Guys burger love. Ya, the offer a lot of different toppings and such, but to me, Fuddruckers has a better burger (and way better buns) for about the same price.
In-and-Out is great b/c it costs a little less and is more unique in flavor and style. Five Guys is just a normal burger that you'd get anywhere else for not much cheaper. I do like them both enough to eat them though.....now I'm hungry for a burger.

Exactly, this thread now has me plotting out my plan of attack for In-N-Out after work. I know it'll be a double-double animal style with fries, but cant decide whether to go with the usual strawberry-vanilla swirl shake or try out the root beer float. Decisions decisions...

Lincecum is young, works out like a beast and thusly has a high metabolism.

In other words, he can afford to eat like that if he so wishes.

If you do that after 40, on a semi-regular basis, then you have no excuse to look the way you look (i.e. like a hamburger).

Does he? I mean professional athletes certainly spend much more time working out than the average joe, however baseball players as a group are not exactly the pinnacle of athletes as far as professional sports figures go, pitchers especially so. When I look at Lincecum I just don't think, wow look at those guns, he sure is ripped.

Have you ever tried the fries "well done"? I always though in-and-out fries were a little soggy for my liking, then I realized I can order them well done and they are nice and crispy. Plus I'm assured to get fresh ones b/c they have to make them special....although they are all fresh since they go through so many so fast they don't have time to sit around in the bin.

I figure he can fire that meal down easily because he more than likely has a case of the munchies.

I'll order it on occasion, but more often than not I just get them done regular because I've had times where they've overcooked them. Can't be any worse than Five Guys which seemed to me like a cup of grease with some fries thrown in. Even the cup they came in seemed to have a layer of grease covering it.

*Automatic Five Guys sucks In-N-Out rules reply*

I hate skinny people who just eat whatever they want all the time and don't have to worry about it at all.

I watched my friend eat a 17x17 (17 patties, 17 cheese) from In-N-Out. They laid the burger on its side and wrapped it like a 'U' in one of their plastic trays.

My other friend did a 22x22, but I did not witness that. Both friends had severe issues in the following days.

I think I've only done 5x5.

As a math guy, that terminology ("4x4" = "four-by-four") always drives me nuts. I'd rather call it a "four-and-four" or something.

Actually that seems like a lot of food for 3,000 calories. If you've ever eaten at the cheesecake factory then you've probably had that many calories in one meal before.

That place is insane....

order something healthy....they give you more than you can eat...order somethign unhealthy...they give you a small amount as possible, but they are make it as unhealthy as you want it.....and that wheat bread....

If I remember, he's struggling to GAIN weight.

*sobs* I wish my diet consisted of gorging on in-n-out.

My record eating thing was the pizza buffet they had at Mr. Gattis. I got up to iirc 26 pieces once. They were medium sized, thin crusts, 6 slices each, so a little over 4 medium pizzas. No I didn't eat the crust, wtf it was a buffet . Plus about 5 pieces of celery from the salad bar. You know... for the colon.

I could not imagine doing that more than once a week, even in those days.

Supposedly they won't make anything more than a 4x4 now. If you want more you have to just order a bunch of 4x4 and put them together.

Eh, I'm willing to pay a few bucks more. Let's face it, if you're eating Five Guys or In & Out Burger often enough that the cost has a meaningful effect on your personal finances then your health will be in even worse shape than your budget.

Shall go to In-N-Out for lunch, I was surprised to read a few weeks ago they'll make a Root beer Float if you ask them. That + 2 Double Double's protein style + fries extra crispy sounds like a perfect lunch.

Nah dude, that's how it is when you're still growing. I could destroy pretty much anything in front of me when I was 17. We used to drive down to Atlantic City and ravage the buffets.

No dude, that's not how it is. Eating that much is insane for anyone. I don't know anyone that could eat just one of those.

Dam, now you're gonna make me go there to try the dam hot dog.

yeah, the Five Guys hot dog is pretty tasty. (Yes, I enjoy putting Five Guys' hot dogs into my mouth.)

Anyway, I'm not convinced Lincecum is any older than like 17, so it doesn't surprise me that he has crazy teenager metabolism.
