What does being a corporation have to do with not franchising?

most any restaurant that has a couple stores has franchises...

call In N Out as say you want to be a franchisee.

EVERY restaurant that has more than a couple stores is franchised...that's how they make money.

corporations have nothing to do with it. heck most large chains are 80/20 split on franchise vs corporate stores.

well that's maybe why I haven't ever had any of their juicy burgers!

But you have to admit, it is unusual for a succesful restaurant business to not franchise.

The only real way to find out is to call them.

"hey, I want to franchise your restaurant here in Louisville, KY...how do I apply?"

At that point their either tell you the bug off or apply.

they also have an interesting policy that if one store gets robbed they have to call all the other stores and inform them they have just been robbed and give the details of the crime (appearance, vehicles, etc.).

You could be a door-to-door used tire salesman. There's probably not too many of those in the midwest to compete with you for business. Plus, tires would easily roll from one house to the next so you wouldn't have to carry anything.
