Look's like 3 #1's and 1 #2, wow. Not a lot of picks but THREE #1s is big, especially with how bad the Redskins will be the next few years.

That seems like a high price to pay to move up 4 spots. Is that comparable to what others have paid in the past?

When the Giants and Chargers swapped 1st pick for 4th pick in 2004, the Chargers only got one 1st, one 3rd and one 5th in addition to the swapped pick. And that was moving up to the #1 overall pick.

The redskins paid way to much. It's always a HUUUGE risk drafting a player, especially early. I'd rather have 3 1st rounders to guess with than 1. Next year there will be another RG3 or Luck, they keep coming.

Well, obviously, we don't know how Luck and RG3 will turn out. But I did read something very interesting yesterday that shocked me. In the ENTIRE HISTORY of the league, only 3 QBs who were drafted #1 overall have made it to Canton. ONLY 3 since this was tracked starting in 1936. Without looking, can anyone name them?

I'd also dispute the notion that players of Luck's caliber are coming out regularly. A prospect with the hype and football IQ of Andrew Luck only appears maybe once per decade. In my time closely following football, I can name the 3 that fit that criteria: Elway, Manning, and now Luck. The hype surrounding Elway was unbelievable in 1983; I was only 12 but I remember it well. The hype about Manning was there but it was lessened somewhat by the presence of another prospect who at the time, was viewed nearly equally (Ryan Leaf). I think Luck is in a similar situation with RG3 and would've been in a similar situation last year with Cam Newton if he came out.

Now I will agree that Luck's hype is different than what we've seen recently. That type of player may not come out every year. But the RG3 hype happens every year. Cam Newton, Colt McCoy, Leinart, Jamarcus Russel, Stafford, Flacco, Ryan, Vince Young, Jason Campbell.

Now obviously some of these guys are good, some are awful. The point is its hard to differentiate RG3 from any of them. He could just as easily be Russel as he could be Newton.

Aikman, Elway, and Bradshaw are the #1 overall picks in Canton and Peyton will be #4. (Marino was drafted the same year as Elway but slipped to pick #27 in the first round due to unfounded rumors of drug use, IIRC).

Now obviously some of these guys are good, some are awful. The point is its hard to differentiate RG3 from any of them. He could just as easily be Russel as he could be Newton.

I think most feel that RG3's biggest differentiation is his attitude. I think just about any QB drafted #1 overall has the physical skills to play in the NFL; attitude and intelligence are probably the real difference makers.
